I saw Asmahan for the first time last February on the Nile Maxim, an elegant dinner cruise ship operated by the Marriott Hotel. Asmahan is, as others have mentioned above, a powerful, engaging performer, well known for her artistic, fantastic entrances. Onstage she is extroverted and fiery and draws you into her performance with ease. Her technique, emotional expression and connection with the audience is superb. We were blown away! Offstage she has a strong, grounded presence, and is also gentle and humble. We exchanged a few words en espaņol, her native language -- she is just delightful!
I'm looking forward to seeing her again in November!
