I always drop a LOT at the beginning of any diet. Apparently, I hang onto quite a bit of water weight when I'm gaining or at a plateau. Besides, it was Phase 1 of South Beach, which does deliver fast initial results. Now I'll be happy with 5 pounds a month and I'll have to reassess if I lose more than 10 in a month. I know continued rapid loss isn't healthy!
