And I'm just getting into to doing Melaya Leff, so I just need a practice Melaya. Now, awhile back ago, I think it was Zumarrad who mentioned how someone can make a Melaya. I couldn't find that forum anywhere.
Zumarrad-- if you see this forum, could you post what you did to make your Melaya? I don't even remember a word of it. I think it was you. Thanx!
In general, what's a good source for dance and folkloric props?
Thanx!

As it may be past Zumarrad's bedtime in NZ right now and I'm still on my lunchbreak, I will take the enormous liberty of reposting what she posted on my LJ about her melaya, and she can bitchslap me later for misrepresenting her, if she so wishes...
Get thee to a fabric shop! Mine is very cheap cotton knit with a rib pattern, black, with three rows of silver paillettes (the big ones) around the edges and straight down the middle (there is no seam or crochet bit). It might be up to 4m, I'm not sure - definitely three and a half. It's a big old bugger, and was made for/used by a dancer four inches shorter than me, but it never feels skimpy.
