I don't know who made the melaya dress, but Aida Nour made the other one. If you are not sure about spending $400 on a melaya, you can buy it cheaper elsewhere. Raqia Hassan designs melayas. In fact, she just updated her web site with a red one. I guarantee it will be less expensive than $400.00. Go to www.raqiahassan.net and click on the link to view her costumes. I have a melaya that I had custom made with the veil, head scarf and partial facial cover and the whole set was $400.00. I also have a less expensive one for about $200 that was made by a male designer in Egypt. Its a "seashore" design so the bottom has turquoise fish netting and there are appliques of sea stars, shells and fish all over. Its actually cute. It worth it even though you are only going to wear for one kind of dance. Perhaps that will inspire you to learn the style. That's what I did-I bought the first costume and then learned the style.

If only it made any kind of sense for me to buy a $400 dress for a specific style of dance that I have never studied, will probably never get paid to do, and don't own any of the accessories for.

EDIT: omg, they have a really cute variation on the "Leela from Dr. Who" trend, too: http://www.shoplikeanegyptian.com/mi...oduct_Count=17
