50 is more than several people have said they need to lose, but I am looking to lose 35 total from my high weight so that's not that far behind you.
It's slow progress, it's very daunting at first - but you just have to do little bits at a time. That's why I'm not going to get freaked out at a slow 4 pound per month loss - it's okay.
It will add up and 6 months from now I will be where I need to be.
You can do it - embrace going slowly and making real changes instead of quick fixes. I've lost more weight than an elephant in my life - I'm really interested now in making permanent livable changes!
