looped help

I’am remodeling a costume I have. It’s one of those costumes with way to much fringe. I plan to remove the fringe and rebead it so that it is looped fringe. My question is should I make only a few really really long beaded strands, and sew them to the costumes in a looped way or should a bead a whole whole lot of smaller stands to sew on separately? I also wasn’t to do some beading across the top of the bra and belt. Any suggestions of something simple? And pictures of great looped costumes would help. Thanks
