There fat and there's fat. I don't think acceptance of being overweight or out of shape is such a good idea and I do think we've been kind of leaning in the direction of "every shape is beautiful" (on the fatter side) perhaps a bit too much. Yes, Gwoofer I do agree with you. I'm not promoting medical obesity. Perhaps I was reading between the OP's lines, but she didn't post "I'm out of shape and need to lose X pounds and gain some overall muscle mass", she described a particular area of fat that she didn't have as an adolescent but has as a 20 something woman. So I was guessing she's not overweight, although I admit I don't really know that.

What I hate to see is people obsessing over "flaws" that are either miniscule or not even there. When every model who shows her legs in magazines, newspapers, billboards, etc. is not only ultra thin and ultra tall to begin with, but has had the photoshop equivalent of an extreme makeover, we get these ideas in our heads about what is beautiful and what is gross, and these ideas are usually completely F'ed up.

And yes, at the same time Americans are overweight, but to get healthy we need to start seeing our bodies in a more holistic way and in a way where the aesthetic of form follows function.
