If the straps are long enough you could always change it to straps that cross in back. It'll have a halter-like shape in front and lift you the same way but put less stress on your neck. cross-in-back styles can be a little hard to get into and out off, but that beats neck-strain!

My overly large bras were partially saved by the addition of a huge, honking hook in the middle of the shoulder straps that just slip one over/into the other, I can even do it myself with no help, so that's another option. I've danced in it twice and haven't had a problem. It configures the bra straps like a racer back sports bra.
