My friends and I stayed at Keti Sharif's apartment in Cairo (in Zamalek) last November. She rents it out to dancers. It's on the 22nd floor with awesome views, 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bath, washer/dryer, dining room and living room. It's in a nice neighborhood (where all the foreign embassy's are), has a nearby grocery store, bank, and restaurants. If you like walking, you could even walk to the Marriott Hotel where Randa performs and the Abu El Sid Egyptian Bar & Restaurant (it's a chain, but it's my favorite!). Keti's website:

She's very responsive via email. She was very helpful with suggestions, contacts, etc.
If you're going for a month, it might be a good idea to get a mobile phone while you're there. It truly helps because you can't call mobile phones from landlines (without a special calling card).
