I can't be that hardcore--I'm fine with a pound a week--the slower I lose it, the more slowly I gain it back. I've gained back a bit since I hit my goal in May '05, but only about 5lbs or so and it fluctuates. That 5lbs drives me nuts because I'm not a big person, so 5lbs means the difference between things fitting or not.

I think what it boils down to for me is that if left to my own devices, I could practically live off bread and pasta.
You're doing well to lose it slowly - that's where the long-term results are to be had. My weight loss this week was probably mostly retained water loss. Past experience tells me I'll lose just as much in the next week, and then it'll start to taper off - then those are the results that'll stick. If I stopped now, the 5lbs I lost would probably come back within a few days.
