Well, to be truthful, I didn't notice the armhole until I saw the picture really so on the body it's comfy. the dress doesn't gap or anything - but it is truly just too long from shoulder to waist for my body.

I bought a dress today that I will have to fix tonight for the same reason - they are all fitting me like this these days, it seems. I have to pull the shoulders up a good inch. weird problem to have.

If it feels too big, not supportive enough, etc., you could add some mesh or buy more velvet to bring the armhole up.
I guess I'm asking, is that the design of the dress, or does it feel like it's just too big(does it gap near the armholes?) Can't tell from the pics.
