I don't have any links to prove it to you but maybe if you asked a regular physician, any physican, or nurse, they would tell you that is absolutely wrong.
You
loose muscle as you get older and have to fight like crazy to maintain it at all. People who already have some muscle atrophy can make muscle gains to maintain their mobility even when they are very old but most of us who are fit and active will be very fortunate to hold onto what we have if we continue activity but actual resistance training can be a muscle saver.
The usual progression is loose muscle gain fat.
