So far the only way I've had any success dealing with those cravings is to just put my head down and push through them like I used to do with cigarette cravings.
Pace around the house, find myself staring into the fridge, tell myself NO, go brush my teeth, pace around the house, find myself staring into the cabinet, tell myself NO, go take a shower...
I don't keep any junk in the house (family be damned, there's junk at the quick shop!), but I'll go back over and over for a sugar free fudgesicle, a fat free turkey sandwich, 2 tablespoons of hummus and baby carrots, etc. Not keeping junk in the house doesn't help, I just CAN'T stop once I start.
The only solution is to eat my small protein & fiber meal and then NOTHING, no matter what excuses my crazed brain comes up with.
