Caroline, try it! I know it's really hard to change lifelong mindpatterns that you were raised with (believe me, I know!)
But when you wake at 6am worrying, give yourself this little routine.
1) What, realistically, is the very worst thing that can happen?
2) What will I do if that happens? Make a little plan.
3) Let the worry go. I have a friend who visualizes putting her troubles in a brown paper bag and physically handing them off to God. Whatever works for you. I chide myself for being silly "there I go, making stuff up and getting upset about it as if it really happened."
4) Consciously turn your mind to some other task. Planning a class. trying to remember a choreography. I have techniques from yoga for quieting my mind (progressively relaxing the body, focusing on the breath) but it's easier just to give it a task to do.
(I don't mean to sound so bossy. You could, of course, not do any of this!)
