I just tested this.
The event has to be in Events calendar. If it's not there already, you can add it yourself, even if you aren't the organiser. Then in the event listing you'll see an RSVP box in the top Right hand corner. Click yes, and you will show up as "I will be attending" below the event details.
I don't yet know whether the fact that you are attending shows up anywhere else on bhuz/your profile, though.
