Saidi is one of the most popular rhythms and dance styles in Belly Dance today. There are a variety of distinct movements used for this folkloric Egyptian dance. In fact, belly dancers in Egypt rarely choreograph Saidi. Once you learn the popular steps and movements, then mix them with a bit of Raqs Sharqi, it can be a fantastic way to really connect with your audience.
Likewise, Nubian music is loved by audiences around the globe It has it's own African/Egyptian flavor (many Nubian songs are recognizable in America!) and can really get the people up and dancing.
Also, Leila will teach drum solo technique, which is a must for any working dancer. Drum solo is a very important part of a dance routine, and spicing up your show with some new moves is always good!
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7TH, 2:30 - 6pm
Classical Egyptian Music with Contemporary Dance Technique & Choreography
Leila shares her technique for dancing to traditional, classically orchestrated Egyptian music, and shows you how to incorporate contemporary steps and sequences through a choreography set to "Esmaooni" by the legendary singer, Warda.
Each workshop is $50 if paid on or before September 25; after September 25th, $60. You may purchase the Saturday and Sunday workshops together, before September 25th, for $90.
*There will be a 30 minute break during the workshops
