My own personal experience - limited though it may be - is that painful breakups require soothing but as soon as I'm on the other side, I do great with self-nuturing and care in the constructive way. My suspicion is that when you get through the rough bit - you are going to blossom into your healthy, "take care of me" space. It's coming. be kind to yourself during the transition.
