Never introduced myself!

Hi everyone! I started studying oriental bellydance in September of 2004. I still continue to take lessons from a wonderful lady named Isis (who also is a bhuz member and recommended it to me). Then in 2005, I began to study tribal as well from Mataji. I'm now fifty-five and very much enjoy both dance forms.

I've purchased a few items from the Swap Meet and whenever I've had questions, everyone has always been so helpful. Bhuz is a wonderful community.

Bellydance has helped me with my self-esteem and also to become more comfortable with my body. I have that middle age spread going on and have started to exercise more and to watch my food intake better. I'm down a few pounds now but still have about twenty to go.

My family, who consists of my husband, is very supportive both in my bellydance interest and any other activities that I chose to enjoy, and my two sons, who are both married with no children as yet, know how much I enjoy bellydancing. I know they've found that it's made a difference in me as a person. I've made a number of new friends - individuals that I would never have met if I wasn't dancing.

I recently attended Oasis Dance Camp with Cassandra, Kay Hardy-Campbell and Yasmina Amal and had a wonderful time. Once again - more new friendships! I also went to Island of Isis Dance Retreat in Ohio with my instructor and studied with Zahra Zuhair. What a great place and great time that was. I plan to return to both events next year!

My instructor, Isis, presents a yearly workshop and Gala in April in Sarnia, Ontario. In 2008, I believe it is taking place on Saturday, March 29. She always has a featured workshop instructor - this year it is Virginia. Past workshop instructors include Cassandra, Aziza, Ava Fleming - those are just the ones I've taken workshops with. Please think about attending if you are in the area. I'm sure she'll post something here and if she doesnt, just contact me and I'll give you the details!

My husband and I also own a 1971 Monte Carlo that we like to cruise in. We recently put a new motor into that vehicle and it's running just fine now. We also have a 1998 Harley Davidson Anniversary Edition Motorcycle which brings hubby great joy. I don't find the motorbike comfortable for riding so I mainly stick to the comfort of the cars we own! Can't be having my back messed up and not be able to bellydance!!!!!

I'm also waiting on results from a follow-up mammogram on my right breast so please keep me in your prayers that everything is fine. There is a large mass in that breast that they are keeping an eye on. I will keep you posted when my results are known.

Well, I've written a small book here but wanted everyone to know me a little better. I'm going to keep bellydancing just as long as I can!!!! I love this artform!
