It's not a dumb question at all!
Single rooms do cost more per person than doubles. When you travel with Aunt Rocky, she'll match people up with roommates so they can get the lower price for staying in a double room. (Of course, if someone definitely WANTS a single and is happy to pay the higher price to get it, that's fine.) Every time I've traveled with Rocky, she has matched me up with a roommate that I liked, so I've been very happy with how it turned out.
