I'd be very careful about cutting into a tube, since there doesn't appear to be a seam? You run the riskof making a weird crazy run in the fabric instead. Personally I'd just work with the fact that the costume has no slit and it will affect your movement choices. You've got other costumes that you can kick freely in, right? This one can be for tiny, mince-y movements :)
