Damn, damn, damn the international cookie aisle. Damn it straight to hell!

I went in the international grocery to get chickpeas, tahini, and lemons. But after I picked up the chickpeas, there it was, between me and the tahini aisle.

The international cookie aisle. Chock full of Walker's shortbread from Scotland, Italian biscoti, and Mexican little sugar cookie things shaped like pigs. German cookies, Chinese cookies, cookies with no english on the label so I can't tell what they are or where they're from. They are all good.

And then I saw them. The Saudi Arabian date-filled butter cookies.

I pick the box up and set it down about 5 times. I look at the label. Each individually wrapped cookie has 210 calories. I tell myself I will only eat one and give the rest to my belly dance friends that will be visiting this weekend. I tell the lady at the checkout that there would be world peace if only we would all share our cookies with each other. She looks at me like I'm crazy so I shut up.

I eat my one before I get to the car.

I eat another saturday and give one each to Lauren and the other two dancers staying with me. I eat one Sunday morning, and another Sunday evening. I told myself I would take them to work today and leave them in the office, but somehow I forgot. Had a hellishly stressful day at work, so came home early and ate another. By this time the extra refined carbs have my appetite in overdrive and I wash the cookie down with milk and then chase it with the baguette that came with my lo-carb salmon salad from Panera the night before. (why would they even put that in the bag? I didn't ask for it) I put alot of butter on the bread. Come home from dance class swearing no more food for the evening and yet I just ate another cookie, plus half a Panera sandwich.

Its like my body is fighting the new lower weight I just achieved.

And there are still three cookies left. What will happen to them? Stay tuned as the tale unfolds.
