Skin Discoloration? Think: Christmas, Easter, Howard Johnson...
Since, for those who celebrate, it's Xmas Eve, here's another tidbit that I like to share and would love feedback and other experiences on it as well...
Hide mild skin discolorations, under eye circles, and sallowness with these three words:
Christmas
Easter
Howard Johnson
WTF is she talking about?!
I'm talking about basic colour theory and neutralizing tones...
Christmas: Red/Green
Easter: Yellow/Violet
Howard Johnson: Blue/Orange
Red discolorations on the skin, such as rosacea, acne, burst blood vessels, general redness can be neutralized by green.
Yellow or sallow complexions can be neutralized by violet.
Blue discolorations (such as spider veins, under eye circles, bruises) can be neutralized by orange.
Many pro makeup lines carry neutralizers with these tones (green, violet, orange). Smashbox has a line of mattefying primers in these colours, as does Makeup Forever. Makeup Forever also has concealer palettes with these colours.
You can even cover tattoos by neutralizing the colors but you would need opaque coverage. Kryolan, (not the makers of spraypaint!) a theatrical line of makeup makes Dermablend, which is opaque concealer. Try it for tattooes.
Which reminds me, my cosmetic airbrush is calling to me to try this on myself!!!
Damn, if I could only do virtual airbrush...I'd offer it to everybody!
