Ultra Bad-Ass Vintage Costumes
Post your favorite pics - I need inspiration for a project I'm working on!
I've got a pale gold old-school panel skirt (shows LOTS of leg), a vaguely craptacular but workable antique gold sequinned bra base that was given to me as a gift, and a silver mirror-and-bell set to pair with all of the above. I'm thinking the gold-and-silver combo could look bad-ass and dangerous!
So feed me, guys! I'm hungry. Nom nom nom nom nom!

Re: Ultra Bad-Ass Vintage Costumes
Here's my vintage-style costume, made from collected jewelry bits, victorian christmas ornaments, and antique gold lame base on the bra/belt. I also did the circular ruffle on the chiffon skirt and sheer harem pants slit up the front:
Here's a little more closeup pic of the set with an Lrose skirt and gauntlets.

I love how the belt comes up in front, rather than dipping down. So hot!

I've been invited to visit a local Lebanese woman who used to teach dance and have a troupe in this area in the 60's and 70's. She said she'll show me photos - will make mental notes for costume inspiration!

AND it covers up post-baby lower tummy flaws
This bra/belt design is modeled after a Naima Akef costume (she actually had at least two with this belt design) - you can see her version here (actually you can see a second costume with the same belt design at the end of this clip):

I love Samia's costumes. Have some ideas percolating but I need to finish current projects before diving into something new!

Re: Ultra Bad-Ass Vintage Costumes
I like the balance of the ornate, over-the-top cap-sleeved brathingy with the up-to-there leg showing and comparatively simple skirt. If you stare at the top too long, it starts to look kind of gross, but the basic shape is attractive.
Of course, it probably wouldn't work without the Dracula hair....

I remember when I seen this costume, on Shems' website I was like I can wear a body stocking in color and look fabulous!
