Tips and Tricks for Using Groups

The Groups function is a very powerful tool.

To get a quick start, you can 1) send an regular email to all your buddies and ask them to get on BHUZ and click "join" next to your group on the Groups page. That will get everyone in the group. Then, you will be able to build your own community, with private messaging, your own private forum and picture gallery. This has so many uses for interests that may be too specific for the regular Forum.

Give your potential members these directions -- On the Groups page, click "view all", then select the group you want to join, and then click "join" which is the tab on the extreme left, above the avatar.

When you are in your group, and you click on Invite Others, you can only invite people who are already your friends, who appear in your Friends box.

If you know the BHUZ names of people you want in your group, go to the Members page and put the name in the "search by username box". That will bring up their avatar. Click on that and that will bring you to their contact page. Click on Send Message and/or Add to Friends, and that will enable private messaging.

If the Moderator chooses No to Open Join, then members have to be invited to join the group.

When you see a group marked "private" it means you must be a member of the group to post in that group.

It just takes some getting used to, but it's a good system because messages can be blocked and spam type stuff can be avoided. And, you can send out bulletins to everyone on your friends list, and invites to your events.
