Customize is Working!!!

Hello Bhuzzers!!!
I got many emails about the customize your profile, and questions about...
I decide to check with my old BHUZ PROFILE (josyzareen) and i did exactly the same thing of my new profile ICELAND... and guess what... simple DOESNT WORK!!! the reason is:
IF YOU HAVE A OLD PROFILE (before the Bhuz change the website) you CAN NOT "SAVE" the files...WHY (i dont know) this must be a error in the website sistem, i believe could be some type of error on the settings on the bhuz website, but its NOTHING we can do.
I also ask my friend SOHEIR to do the same, i even went in to her bhuzz account and i try to save, but nothing.
Then she make a new account, and was just fine, working great!!!

IF you really want to have a profile fancy and nice with your picture, you have to make a NEW PROFILE, then you email me and i tell you what to do, or just trying many options!!!

Sorry guys... now we found the reasn WHY the customize doesnt work!

Josy, thanks for this detective work! Give me a couple of days to figure out if there is a way to work around this, before we get a deluge of people wanting new accounts, or to change their account names.

Personally, I don't want to get a new account . . . too attached to the old one. So if you can figure this out, it will be so good!!! I've got some great pix that I can use as a background!!!

I salute Josy/Iceland for her detective work. This was a frustrating problem, so I just was going to give up.

We are getting closer to a solution, it may take a week to get it fixed. SO, hang in there, we should be able to get it fixed without having to create new accounts. For right now, only members who created accounts after the site changed to the new format can use the design your profile feature.

Hi Everyone!

We think that Customize your Profile is now working for everyone! But, we need your help to test it. Please go to My Bhuz > My Account > design my profile, and fool with it a little bit. Remember that to get a picture to show up in the background you have to select "transparent" for the background color and background main.
Some pictures upload just fine, some don't, you have to keep trying. Some codes from My Space code websites work really well, and some don't.
Just try it and have fun (or frustration). Josy of Iceland is happy to help.

Its working for me. A couple of tips:

1) As rosey says, some pix work, some do not - I suspect there is both a file size limit, as well as a pixel dimension limit.

2) Be sure to put a "#" (no quotes) in front of any color codes you type in by hand.

3) If you don't understand what a given parameter is, set it to something like bright RED so you can go view your profile and see what was affected!

A couple more:

4) There is a neat link: "View profile layout guide" which shows what most of the items are.

5) There are some items that you apparently cannot customize - the text of a username in the guestbook for instance.

How did you get the full background image to show? mine won't do anything other than tile a smaller image.

I'll pm you but others may want to know the answer to this.

joke...

ok guys... if you use photoshop (like i do) make your background size like that:
WIDTH:35cm /if you want to work in inch, then will be 14 inches
HEIGHT:28cm /if you want to work in inch, then will be 11 inches
RESOLUTION: 72 pixels/inch

LOL, Yep, mine tiled . . . but at least I got it to upload for the first time EVER!!!

I cannot get the image to upload if I save it over 11 inches in width.
If it's 11 inches, then it tiles. beats the hell out of me.
There must be another setting that it doesn't like.

RGB? CYMK? GIFs don't seem to help...

Mine is tiling but I sort of hid it under the main screen.

Rosey - are you reading this thread? what's the max file size that the background image can support? is there another requiremetn that we're maybe missing like file format?

scratching head here - why does it work for Josy? because she has more costumes?

Unquestionably, in this as in all aspects of life, costume count does make a difference.

Your profile should really take just about any file size. I suggest that you send your picture to Josy, along with your user name & PW (you can always change your PW later) and ask her to upload it for you.

You're so right. She with the most costumes and all....I like my profile page now but I know I'll want one that doesn't tile at some point.

I'm going to send you my file but I just want it back so I can investigate what you did. I know I'll be changing my background fairly often so I wanna know what the big problem when I do it!

I decided that since I won't have a nice photo of me like Josey/Iceland used, I'll just stick with photos I took in Luxor, LOL!! They make a nice background and look OK tiled . . . but more than twice and it gets too busy! Now I am just going to mess around with the colors a bit . . . right now I seem to be dwelling more in the orange color family which goes nicely with the sand colored background!! That's Egyptian sand . . .

i should have read this thread first but I eventually "got it" after lots of trial and error. I used a myspace photo for my background and it tiled but that works with my chosen design.
I can't seem to upload any of the images I want to put out there (computer probs this end) so you'll have to wait till its sorted but I so much want to share two dance realated paintings.
my profile pic is also a freebe so is there any way i can delete the little yellow squares on the right bottom corner, I'm guessing not.
