Belly Dance Activity Points - Send Gifts!

We've got a great new fun feature!

You've been accumulating "activity points" on the non-forum part of the site. These points are given for things like posting video, audio, pictures, and inviting friends to the site. Your number of activity points show up as stars and a points number next to your avatar on your Profile page.

Now you can use these points to send virtual gifts !

To send a gift, go to a member's Profile page (you can get there by clicking on their avatar on the forum, or by putting their name in the BHUZers page in the navbar above) and click on "Send Gift" in their contact panel. You can choose from a long list of cute gifts, and more will be added. Suggestions are welcome. For some reason there's lots of food, chocolate, and flowers. Can't imagine why!

You will also find a link to the Gift page under Hafla on the non-forum navbar.

Please note -- if you are sending a gift to a member who has an underscore or hyphen in their name, like artemisia_danst, please make sure that the whole name is typed out and that you don't get sent to another artemisia. Or, we have a lauren_ and a lauren. So just double check these recipients on the gift page.

Has anyone else received a PM from a Bhuzzer called the "administrator"? The message says "click" here for your "virtual gift". Am I being paranoid?
I don't know anyone called the administrator, & am afraid of clicking it on!

I think it's valid to wonder about receiving an unexpected message. It may be paranoid, but with all the phishers, spammers, spoofers, and other jerks laying traps out there for unsuspecting web users, it can be prudent!

My are sent in my name . The Administrator is the mystery programmer with no name from an unknown universe who put in the Virtual Gifts function today, and sent out a few to test the system. I the program -- and now we have something that makes sense of the points that are accumulated in our profiles.
It's sort of like Frequent Flyer points without the of having to get on a plane (not to mention you don't have to spend money to accumulate BHUZ points).

So, spend your points on gifts for :girl_hug: and , and then rack up more points by posting pictures, blogs, events, polls, videos, music, and inviting more friends. Use the "invite" tab on your profiles to spread the word.


And, don't forget to put the BHUZ logo


on your webpages. You can copy the html by clicking on the "get Involved" link at the bottom of the non-forum pages of the site.

I think bhuz is slowly morphing into an interactive RPG. Soon, our post counters (aka "experience" points) will be used to acquire various weapons and magical power upgrades. These in turn will be used to fight off crassel-wielding trolls who jump out from behind the side ads when you try to enter a new thread (aka a new "level")

Bhuzzers will be sent on various quests (for example, to retrieve Oum Kalthoum lyric translations), and will fight bloody battles for bellas in the swap page. Oh wait, that already happens.

perfecting your bellydance skills to earn points for more and better costumes . . .

I have a suggestion for a gift -- chicken soup (to send to someone who's sick). Maybe you could add a category of gifts for the ailing: box of tissues, jar of vitamin C tablets, packet of cold medicine, etc.
