Another Aziza fan puts up her hand.
Indeed Artemisia and I are locked in mortal combat for the title of official European Aziza groupie. So far Artemisia's winning 'cause she's travelled to two other countries to see her but I'm not prepared to be beaten on this...
See you in Spain Artemisia - I'm up for the same workshops as you...
But I may just decide you're not allowed in the London workshops when I have her here in January. Just to even up the score!
Oh, I guess I've just slipped in the first official notice of Aziza's London workshops - January 19th-20th next year. (the weekend after Caroline - there was a mistake in the original booking dates)

I can't wait until she comes back to Charleston in October. I loved her shimmy workout when she had us imagine our hips were lawn mowers and when our engines died she'd come around and get us started again by pulling an imaginary mower cord. She is so creative. I also loved her disco warm ups. FUNNNNN!!!!!!

I took a workshop last year with Aziza in Sarnia, Ontario. What a wonderful and fun instructor she is. I'm looking forward to taking another workshop with her at some time! She's certainly a crowd pleaser on the stage - talks with eyes as well as the rest of her!

Does anyone know if Aziza is planning to do more videos? She is one of the best teachers, and I've gotten so much out of her two instructional dvds.

If anyone is wondering, the workshop with Aziza in Jamaica was awesome!!! I have been to 3 Aziza wokshops but this one was small so I acutally got a chance to talk to her. She even gave me a hug after my performance and told me I was "amazing"...ME??? It meant a lot coming from AZIZA...I would highly recommend Jamaica Raks if they do it again next year, too.

Aziza will be in Toronto for a four day intensive and a public workshop. We've got spaces in the public workshop on August 5th.

i only recently discovered aziza and i love her stage presence and personality.
you guys don't know how lucky you are to be living in the states and europe. you are able to get so much more exposure to belly dance in general- music, culture, costumes, workshops- everthing!!!
i am soo jealous! we hardly have anything here compared to you guys. i would love my school to organise a workshop with aziza in south africa. she sounds like a wonderful teacher.
and to you guys going to workshops- have a great time and do a couple of shimmies for me.

Anyone doing her San Diego workshops today or tomorrow? I was thinking about driving down just for the workshops. 4 hours of driving for 2 hours of workshop....hmmm....sounds like it might be worth it!

That clip is nearly 20 years old, she was probably still trying to find her way. I don't know what's up with that music, my first thought was that maybe an instructor gave her that song and she was too much of a newbie to know any better? And she probably wasn't aware of the "special effects"....
Anyway, I thought it was interesting to see how she has developed her style since then.

I have a feeling that the music that is playing in the clip was not the music she was dancing too. With all the special effects I imagine them dubbing over her music...

this clip has been discussed before and someone identified the music and provided some background about the kind of program this was. but i dont recall the info correct enough to repeat it.
personally, i love it. it's so great to see the aziza-ness being established... it's like drawings from a painter, who became a master (picasso for example), when you see their youth drawings, they are not quite there yet, but you can see that 'signature' developing... i love going to exhibitions (with youth works) of artists i love, so the same goes for this clip. i know they are probably sitting on them and will never show them to the world, but i wouldnt mind seeing similar old stuff from jillina, leyla youvana, ava fleming, all the dancers i admire!!
the costume is awfull though ;-) ;-)
