One of the ladies coming back from AWS just wrote on Russian forum that Asmahan is 52 years old.

I can't believe it!!!

She looks so good - can it be true?

If it is, so what? It just goes to show, dancing keeps you youthful and fit and that you don't just "turn in" cause of your age. It is none of the audience's business how old you are, as long you dance and look hot. And she is both!

I'm not sure it's 100% the dancing keeping her looking youthful

but I'm completely not opposed to a little surgical enhancement for those pesky wrinkles and such. I'd do it in moderation for a wrinkle or two when necessary.

That doesn't surprise me, I would have guessed that she is in her late 40's. The reason being is I know she has one of the longest careers of foreign belly dancers in Egypt so I am not totally surprised if she is that old. Ashaman may have had plastic surgery. Or maybe not. I think the dancing and excersize keeps her looking good and youthful. Also, she wears a ton of make up and those costumes take like 10 years off your age. We really don't know how she looks like without her make up. She may look more her age without her make up. But regardless, I really admire her for being so fit and energetic and defying age!!

Some people also look young for their age. I went to the doctor today, and she had to ask me how old I was - she said I looked ten years younger than the age written on my chart! (She's a new doc, but has a patient for life, I think, lol!)

I only hope that I still look ten years younger when I'm 52!

I have also heard that she is a lovely person, and if the local dancers up here would pay for such a teacher, I would def get her over. Sadly, I don't think they would.

PS I am not talking about bhuzzers who I know would come along unless they were too broke !

We don't know what LOTS of people look like without makeup! Dancers, actresses, models, whoever. That is the beauty of makeup.

Yes, I hope we all look good at 52. Well, if you look 10 years younger than your true age, as long as you continue to dance/excersize and take care of yourself, there is no reason why you cannot keep up the youthful appearance even at 52!!

I'm not referring to make up - I'm talking surgery or botox. Seems like it's pretty popular in Cairo.

Oh, yeah, plastic sugery in Cairo is epidemic it seems. Asmahan's seems to look better, though. I mean, hate to say, but she looks better and younger than Lucy, who is younger than her and has had an obvious facelift which she probably did not need. And really, some of the Lebansese singers, even those who appear not to be that old, just look like they have had surgery. Maybe it is just the theatrical makeup, I don't know. Just seems many of them could be so much prettier if they just toned it down a bit.

My first teacher is about that age, has not had any plastic surgery, and in stage makeup looks like she's in her late 30's. She's got one heck of a body too, but she works out at the gym every single day in addition to teaching and performing.

That yellow Melaya dress is soooooooooo cute!

There is a lot of plastic surgery going on in Cairo. But no more than other parts of the world. I live in Newport Beach, CA which is supposedly the plastic surgery capital of the USA!

Its hard to say whether Asmahan had plastic surgery just by looking at those photos. Lucy has for sure, and Lucy is about three or four years old than Asmahan. I think Lucy is about 55 or 56. But definitely Asmahan looks better! Lucy's face lifts are so tight that she looks like she is in pain when she smiles, plus I think she has had work done to her nose, mouth and eye lids. Its very apparent.
