Katia
I got the Bellydancers of Cairo DVD and I was very much impressed with Katia (the Russian dancer). Does anyone know if there is any more commercially available video footage of her. I loved her style.

I just saw one two days ago in Youtube. There wasn't her name in the file, so it's not easy to find. It only said oriantal dance or arabic dance or something very similar.
I try to find it again.

I found her interesting and likable on the documentary, but she seemed really out of it - like she was sick or something - in the interview.

Katia also dances on Raqia Hassan's volume IV video.
Funnily enough, I had a friend with me when I was buying the VHS at the AWS festival a few years ago...we were looking at the back of the video where some of the dancers photos are & she said pointed to the photo of Katia & said, 'oh look - there is a photo of Raqia H when she was younger'...& I tell you...the photo really does look like her!
I agree she didn't interview as well on Belly dancers of Cairo - I thought she interviewed much, much better on Yasmina's DVD.

Hi!
I saw on Katia's website that she has a video for sell.
I wonder how to get this video (in NTSC format)/DVD. Do somebody know of a distributor somewhere in Canada, USA or Europe that I can contact?
I prefer not to order it from Egypt, too much problem.

She is in one of the Raqia Hassan instructional series. I think it may be number 7.
She has an instructional video out but I have no idea where to get it from. I was sent it accidently by the delitefull Hamo on ebay. It also has Tito in it.
There are some clips of her on beledi.ru
She was on one or more of the Ahlan Wa Sahlan series by Raqia Hassan.
She has improved alot over the years, I was impressed by her on the Dancers of Cairo DVD.
I have more of her but I just cant think what vids they are.

Outi- that's a great link, but I can't see anywhere how I could order it, and googling only brings up her CD for sale, not the DVD. I might have to ask Yasmina or Kay if they can track a copy down for me. I'll post if I get more information about it.
I'm working on my collection of Raqia Technique videos, and I haven't yet got one with Katia, but I'll be looking out for her now!

I actually don't like her style much. But she does appear on some of the Ahlan Wa Sahlan videos:
She never appeared on any of the opening ceremonies, only closing ceremonies.
If you refer to the other thread you started on AWS 2006, she may be the dancer's name I for the closing ceremony.
I think she danced at the following closing ceremonies for: 2004 & 2006 (possible 2005 can't remember).

I adore Katia aswell, I think she has a wonderful style. I also think she is on Raqia's vol 4, she does a great saidi on there.
