Classical Lebanese movie clip on Youtube

In the old bhuz there was a thread asking about a dancer in a clip. The thread is here

http://ads.bhuz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=25859

I found out that the dancers name is Mervet. It was written at the start of the clip on Trytel nights 2.

Thanks for the info, Mark also posted that on my clip. I downloaded it from Music Axis where it is listed as Lebanese, but someone made a comment that they were speaking Turkish. I did a search and did not come up with anything yet as to whether she is Turkish or Lebanese. Do you know?

The person who made the comment on your YouTube clip obviously does not know this movie. It's the soldiers who are speaking Turkish because they are supposed to be Turkish soldiers in Lebanon during the Ottoman occupation of Lebanon. The movie is set in a small village in Lebanon. It's a classic Lebanese movie called Safar Barlik, and it stars Fairuz and is produced by the Rahbani brothers, one of whom was Fairuz's husband. There are plenty more clips from Safar Barlik on YouTube where Fairuz sings beautifully and they are speaking Lebanese arabic, there's not just this dance clip.

Regards
Priscilla
