Angela Prato
What an amazing dancer she is! I hope she doesnt mind me posting her performance from Nov 9th (Bellydance Odyssey organized by my fantastic teacher Leyla Soleil), but I find she is too amazing to not share this with you all.

She teaches in Canton OH and I think Alliance. Her email is angelabellydance@yahoo.com
I dont think she has a website, though I wish she would! I am looking forward to learn from her as well.

Do you know whose original choreo it is? I really like it, and love the song as well - can you ID the title and artist?

I guess the music is Kal Eah by Hamada Bakhaf.
Not sure about the choreo, but I will ask next chance I get!

The singer is Hemada Helal. It is on an album called 'Bakhaf'.

That is Aida Nour's choreography that Bahaia commissioned while in Egypt. Bahaia was teaching and performing this choreo a lot in '05-'06. I believe that there is a performance by Bahaia of this piece on the IAMED "Bellydance Sensations" DVD.

Yep. It's a beautiful choreography. I swiped the combination with the truncated hip circle, level change myself, looks so elegant.
i wasn't sure about the rest of it, is the whole thing the same choreography?

Thanks so much for the ID - it looked very egyptian to me, so it makes sense if it was an Aida Nour piece.

For the most part, yes - though there were some variations it did follow the basic framework.

I just spoke with Bahaia, and this is actually not her Aida piece, this is an original Bahaia choreography. Just thought I'd clear that bit up!
Also, Angela performed this with Bahaia's blessing - I didn't want anyone to get the idea that I thought Angela lifted it.

I love Bahaia's choreography! And Hamada Helal -- such a little cutie -- love his songs. Angela does a great job with this dance.

How funny - all this time I thought the singer was a woman.

Re: Angela Prato
Angela is one of my best friends and also my mentor. She is one of those dancers that is often overlooked because she dosen't market herself at all. She is too busy dancing! She has studied with so many instructors- many of the Egyptian greats and basically dedicated her life to learning and preserving the true Egyptian style. You should see her notebook! Packed full of many hours of notes. She is a true master teacher and I would highly recommend anyone taking class from her. Thanks for posting this, Josie!

Re: Angela Prato
Bravo, Angela!
Fun to see one's own choreo on another dancer getting great compliments! To be certain, this is my choreography - not Aida's. But Aida is a huge source of inspiration for me and there are little nods to Lucy as well. This performance has Angela's own touch. I like it! It looks very different on her long and lean frame as opposed to my short and juicy.
This was my fav piece in 05-06. I taught this choreo in Ohio, Phonix, Florida and Houston. Very intense song with lots of energy and meaning. I'll try to remember to post a translation later from my other computer.
xo, Bahaia
