live Jillina

I love seeing her dance to live music best.

For all Jillina fans in Los Angeles come out and support this (unless you're at Fifi of course) - here's something to make us all love her more - she's hosting this event to benefit The Family Violence Project which was established in 1983 and provides a continuum of quality services, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week to victims of domestic violence and their children. The program consists of a
counseling center, a 30-day emergency shelter, Tamar House, and a 9-
month transitional shelter called Hope Cottage.

For what it's worth, Tina...I think that would be a great session to attend. Everyone always gives Jillina props for her workshops.

I LOVE Jillina and her style! If I lived closer to the L.A. area I would definitely be at those workshops. I took a 2hr workshop from her a couple years ago and it was great. She is so personable and explains things so nicely. Shared tangerines from her tree with everyone at break. My first Egyptian style performance was a choreo piece I "borrowed" from one of her DVDs.

My very first professional performance was an adaption to her choreography "la azon". I wish I lived near L.A. I would happily pay big bucks to be her student.

I think Jillina is great!! I love how she has such passion for the dance. From her videos and what I have read here, she seems like a fab teacher. I like her teaching technique. I only wish she would come to Oz for shows or workshops.

OH. MY. GOD.
Jillina last night.... there are not words. perfect, perfect, perfect.

if you've only seen Jillina dance with BDSS or to taped music, you haven't experienced the real magic of Jillina, get her with a band and you see the real masterpiece.

she was PERFECT last night. a not very good band and she made them sound like Om Kolthoum's orchestra. every move was perfect, every note, every beat, you'd think she's rehearsed and worked with these guys every night.
her joy in just dancing. she said it was so much fun to just get out there and dance, and not have to count and not have to worry about a choreography and what everyone else is doing, she could just relax and have fun.
she loves dancing and she loves people, and you could just feel how happy she was.
you'd think after seeing her dance countless times in the last 10 years, i'd be somewhat immune to her dancing, but i almost cried last night she was so beautiful.

we were all shaking our heads in disbelief, she's just getting better...

and a costume to die for -- that she designed. drool!

(and props to the other dancers last night who also did fine jobs with problematic music.)

I wish I could've seen that show. I've twice been moved to tears watching her dance. I wonder if she knows just how much she touches us, the audience, when she dances.

great

It was indeed a really stand out performance. I have to say, I've seen Jillina solo to live music as much as I've seen her dance in an ensemble and she definitely blows the doors off the place on her own with a live band - actually the other times i've seen her with live music it's been a different band that the one last night - it's been with Mohammad's band, and of course they are amazing.

That costume she had on was so pretty. really really really pretty.

workshops

For anyone in LA pondering the workshops - do it.

It was really really great. This was the first class I've had with Jillina in all these years.

Technique and combinations - my favorite workshop type. She basically kicked our butts all around that room. I was sweating buckets. Felt really good.

I suspect it's gonna be full next time but if you can go try (Tinah).

<Technique and combinations - my favorite workshop type.>
This are the ones i`m really fond of,too, cause choreos never get on me no matter how much i try.Besides since i`m not a pro i don`t need a choreo per se and prefer to have some combos learned that are far more practical for me.
Does she(Jillina) do this kind of workshops frequently on LA,Dani???

not sure

Bul_Bul, not sure what the scoop is other than she's leaving at the end of the month to join everyone in Monaco - has that started already? She has a big benefit show here in a few weeks plus this series she's doing for May.

Me, I'm glad she's spending a month and doing this because - in answer to Sashy's question - no, she hasn't done a series like this - really like class with Jillina - here at home in quite some time! (least I don't think she has - but has done single workshops of course).

Yeah, I went to the BDSS webbie to check the dates and it does seem like Monaco is already in full swing. I'd be cheesed off if I went to BDSS and didn't see Jillina performing.
