GONE! Used amber Egyptian fringe: 3.5-6.5" lengths, over 2 3/8 yards!
Hey everyone, I'm gauging interest in ALOT of used amber Egyptian fringe. I removed it from a bedlah I'm totally redisigning...it was covered in bronze sequins that were pretty faded and the longest fringe was pretty hammered. The costume will eventually be graphite, silver, and black so this fringe won't work, obviously. The lengths range from 3 and a half inches to six and a half and there's yards of this stuff. There are paillettes on some of it that need to go and like I said the 6.5 inch fringe is in bad shape though there's twenty or so inches of it that's in good shape. There are still sequins glued to the top of the fringe that will need to be removed before it's used.
Here are photos of the best of the fringe and this is what I have:
3.5 inch: One 24 inch piece, a few strands missing on an end. Another six inch piece, a missing strand or two and a few loose ones on an end.
4 inch: Nine inches, about fifteen missing strands.
4 inch w/paillettes: One eighteen inch piece and one fifteen inch piece. Missing five strands altogether and paillettes will need to be removed as they're no longer shiny.
6.5 inch: Fifteen inches of solid fringe, missing three or so strands. There is 24 inches of 'hammered' fringe that is good for clusters of strands. There's about seventy strands that are still attatched to the cording at the top.
This is the short bugle bead type of fringe, not the seed bead kind. Lots of shine they're translucent. There's over 87 inches here, way over when you count the 24 inches of fringe that's good for accents.
I have no clue how much this fringe is worth and I'm totally up for trades. I'd love to have some belly dance sewing patterns, especially for a Ghwazee coat and/or beledi dress pattern with neckline options, for example. Happy swapping time!

Hmmm...Anala, what would you be willing to trade for the fringe?
Also, Dunyah, what is the pattern you have?

Re: Any interest in used amber Egyptian fringe?
How about the blue caftan? I do not need a velvet caftan in the deserts of NM.

I think I'll pass on the blue caftan...it is gorgeous but I'd roast in it, even up here in Southern Oregon. Do you have any swatches of black fringe?

I have "Bahiga's Blouse" from Atira's Fashions. "This blouse may be worn under any of the vests and boleros, or under the Ghawazee coat. May be made hip length to tuck into harem pants or full length as a blouse-chemise to be worn over harem pants and under the fitted bodice coats (or vests). Looks best when made in a sheer fabric such as chiffon, cotton voile, batiste, or lining fabric. Three sleeve variations, one size fits all."
It can be open all the way down the front or have a v-neckline. I had a blouse made out of cheesecloth (a lower quality of cotton voile) from this pattern, it was cool but the fabric just didn't hold up.

I think I'll pass on the pattern and caftan, thank you anyway Dunyah and Anala...Aasiyah, do you have a Ghwazee coat pattern or some black or silver fringe? Fabric? Appliques? Fabrics I'm looking for right now...stretch lace, mesh, cotton knits in solid colors. If anybody has some of that stuff I'm interested!

I have bluish sari fabric I bought from here (about 4 or more yards, have to check) that I won't ever use it seems. I also have a couple of casual costume pieces I don't mind getting rid off. It will take me awhile to take pics, but I can get back to you. Don't know if this is good enough, but let me if you might be interested. I have more fabric somewhere, too.

Mmmm....blue project goodies eh? Fuschia sari? Some blue sari fabric? I can't decide!! If you guys don't mind waiting for a couple of days I have a hellabusy day tomorrow (student hafla, yipes!) and my son's tenth birthday. Yeah, on the same day! A question about the blue dress...what style is it? Could it be turned into a beledi dress? Are there photos somewhere here? Dunyah, how many yards are saris?

Re: Used amber Egyptian fringe: 3.5-6.5" lengths, over 2 3/8 yards!
ok...the universal barter item ...money....
What am I going to do with it...you might well ask? No random purchase, this! I have 2 yards of retro copper cream and gold swirlly fabric from Joanns waiting to be made into an Am Cab 70's bedlah. I will find some copper and cream fringe and add brass and copper Saroyan coins (have those) into the mix. So have some pity here!

6 yds in a sari, but I defer to Anala's burning need to create a fabulous retro costume.
