Elegant Egyptian costume -- SOLD
SOLD -- thanks!
------------------------------------
Hi, all. I bought this pretty thing brand-new from a fellow Bhuzzer and don't have the heart to alter it. It's an elegant design with an unusual floral motif and nice shoulder/arm coverage. It would also be great with a black belly cover for the look of a dress. Good value, too. Will someone please take it out dancing?
Costume includes bra, skirt and headband. Photo courtesy of Khalisah in post #24 below. Two more in my gallery here:
http://www.bhuz.com/index.php?cmd=/p...ery/name_Zana/
If you would like more, please e-mail me for others at info at suzanadance dot com. I took some on a friend but don't have her permission to post them all here.
Bra has a 38" band. I would say it's best for a small to average D cup or a full C with some padding; for a 38DD you would need to add more coverage. Cup measurements: width at widest part = 7", around top edge = 8", top to bottom 5-3/4", diagonal from center = 8". Hard cups, fully lined, no padding.
Skirt has strong elastic sewn to the top edge. Top edge unstretched is approximately 24", stretches to 40" easily, and will stretch up to 44" with effort. Lower hip stretches easily to 48", could go another inch or two with effort. The upper skirt is gathered (shirred) chiffon and looks pretty whether stretched or not. Upper hip looks to be best for up to a 42"; the elastic could easily be tightened if necessary. Length is about 36". Below the hips, the skirt splits into eight separate panels, each with beaded edges; it would look good with an underskirt in black, gold, or red if you didn't want to show your legs.
Price: $350 OBO includes US shipping. PayPal or check, please -- drop me a line for my payment address.
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions I haven't answered here. Thanks for looking!
Suzana

Shaddap, you.
You were right, I was wrong. I love you anyway, though.

Too late! I know the "I told you so" dance when I see it.
It's beautiful, y'all -- just too small for me, as Miss Thing predicted. Give it a whirl!

Re: Elegant Egyptian costume, black/gold/red, D cup, covered shoulders, swishy sleeve
Lovely, but I know I'd have to remove the big bell sleeves....they would eat my figure for breakfast.
Hmmmmm

Re: Elegant Egyptian costume, black/gold/red, D cup, covered shoulders, swishy sleeve
Hi, Ozma. You could easily do that, and it would be pretty without the drapes or with smaller drapes. The sleeve construction on this one is interesting -- it's almost a slashed effect, as if it had been inspired by a trip to the Renn Faire or a production of Romeo and Juliet or something. I will be happy to take photos if you'd like, but for now here's a description:
There is a short sleeve in stretch velvet under the chiffon: you can see the edge of it in the front view in the gallery. The chiffon is laid over that and sewn with it into the front and back of the armhole, so that there is a bead-edged wedge of velvet showing at top and bottom but the front and back are chiffon. The chiffon is loosely shirred down to about 1/2 inch above the bottom of the velvet sleeve, then falls free to form the drape. For short sleeves you could easily cut the chiffon below the velvet and hem it under, but you'll no doubt come up with a more interesting treatment if you decide to take it on.
If you'd like more info or photos, please let me know. I'll double-check the measurements, too. Thanks for looking!

Re: Elegant Egyptian costume, black/gold/red, D cup, covered shoulders, swishy sleeve
Oh Zanaaa...
I think this is SUCH a flattering model, unusual style and my size!
But I´m still broke and have too many black costumes...:´(
OT:What´s up with me and costume colors???
In my 20:s I bought/had made all the black, forest green, midnight blue and wine costumes that I own.
(just sold off a midnight/crystal Abla at the studio to a twentysomething dancer.)
The older I get,the more garish the costumes I wear become...?
Anyway-as soon as I´m back from Paris I will list A´Kai ombre veils,Pharaonics costumes and L.Rose pants+trumpet skirt here!
Got the trip as a present from my parents in law,
I have a bad feeling about being in debt over my ears when I get back to Sweden...but maybe I can give myself an excuse then.
hugs Emma

Re: Elegant Egyptian costume, black/gold/red, D cup, covered shoulders, swishy sleeve
I am thinking hard about this, but also thinking that it might be too big...and I can't resell too-big items locally (Japan) I think, even with a 31-32 ribcage I could make the top work, I have mad top-making-work skills...but I tend to wear my upper hip at about 33 and lower 38.
Would tightening the elastic to that degree mak it bunchy or odd?

Re: Elegant Egyptian costume, black/gold/red, D cup, covered shoulders, swishy sleeve
Definitely no problem on the top hip -- the elastic in there is already quite tight, so you might not even need to adjust it. I'm sorry I didn't think to measure the lower hip without stretching it, but I can do that later this evening. I was thinking in terms of how wide a booty it would fit (read: mine) rather than how slender! Please stay tuned.

I will stay tuned...can you also measure how wide the cupline is. What I mean is inside, in front, from where one cup meets the ribcage band to the other. I also need to see if I'm going to end up with cups in my armpits.

Thought you might need that as well -- will do. If you wouldn't mind, please PM me your e-mail address. I can send you some closeups and measuring-tape photos tonight or tomorrow just to avoid the possibility of confusion/miscommunication.

Re: Elegant Egyptian costume, black/gold/red, D cup, covered shoulders, swishy sleeve
Are you thinking it's too big or too small? It's a pretty flexible style because of the shirring and elastic in the skirt. Let me know if you'd like more details or photos -- I have some additional pics I can e-mail.
