I was there!
The conference was really wonderful.
There was a great variety of workshops and lectures and some really amazing performances.

Adishakti, I really enjoyed your performance on Thursday. I wanted to find you to say hello, but never did:-(
Mark, I was sorry I had to miss your show but I really enjoyed your input on the panel discussion!

Samira, I'm emailing you! I would love to see photos. I danced Friday night and at the Sunday night party at Myth.

I owe you an apology--Lynette (GildedSerpent) missed your performance because she graciously agreed to drive me back to the hotel and wait while I cleaned up (after all the workhsops) I attended on Thursday. GS missed a number of the performers in the first half of the show because of my sweaty body... :(

As you know I was very impressed your "hitchhiker" jazz piece. But as a raks sharqi devotee I must say you freaking rocked it Sunday night. Your technique and musicality made the night (with the exception of Tito's drum number, of course). NY loves you.

Adishakti, whimper, Thursday night's show was the only main stage show I missed! I skipped it so I could hide in my hotel room and prepare for my presentation in the seminar room the next day. I'm sorry I missed you!

Mariyah, so that was you Sunday night at Myth? And were you the jazz-style dancer Friday night? I enjoyed your dancing very much! You were so graceful!

Mark, I loved your contribution to the panel! You added such an element of life and fun to it! Any panel discussion has the potential to be dull, but not when YOU are one of the panelists! Thanks for making me smile a lot! And I enjoyed your performance as well!

Mariyah - Thank you! So sorry to have missed your performance - I tried really hard to make it back on Friday for the show, but got stuck in Hamilton via family and traffic. Hopefully, I'll get to see some video footage!

Masouma - That's so funny! And here I was thinking GS thought my piece sucked since it wasn't on the clip they did up. ;-) Did you make it back in time for Asha? She ROCKED!

Shira - No worries! There was a lot of dancing going on... it'd have been awfully impressive if anyone managed to catch it all. I had wanted to catch your lecture but regrettably didn't (in Hamilton with family again). Glad to hear you had a nice time - hopefully next year you'll be back and I'll get to meet you!

I've been home since Monday and it's been a crazy week of non-dance stuff, yet about all I've been thinking about was how great last week's conference was. Reading these posts is yet another reminder of what a fantastic time I had.

The pics are fabulous Samira! You have a real talent for catching dancers in the moment. Adishakti, your's were my favorite! Those pics look so Egyptian especially with the tent cloth in the background and the Saidi dress is GORGEOUS on you!!! I remember that dress in swapmeet awhile back???? I'm glad it got a good home
