Anyone going? Taking Workshops, Performing?

We, that being SaJa Middle Eastern Dance Co, will be arriving from San Luis Obispo somtime Saturday...we have a concert we are in the night before so I don't think we will be doing the 3+ hour drive until later in the morning.

We are performing on the main stage @ 4:20pm. And a couple of us hanging out for the show/party later on, if you want to join us.
I am taking a couple of workshops in Sunday before heading back home.

I'll be stopping by Sat to drop off flyers and such, taking Aunt Rocky on Sunday and dancing at 1:20 or something. :)

Thank you Nasila! I knew there had to be another thread around but I couldn't find it. BTW, I am taking Morocco's morning workshop on Sunday so I'll see you there!

I will be there shopping and watching the performances...also the show! I can't seem to find the hours of anything......is it listed on the site?

Well, the open stage hours I'm assuming are the hours for the festival:

Open Stages: 12:00 noon - 7:30 Saturday. 12:00 noon - 5:30 Sunday

Auditions for BDSS start Sunday at 5:30, but I can't find anything about what time the show is on Saturday. I know Gamal Gomaa will be playing on stage from 4:30 to 5:30 on Sunday too... yip!!

It does look like a workshop was added for Morocco Sunday afternoon, as least since my last print out of the workshops and signing up. Nothing was announced about it though.

Seems like lots of good stuff Sunday late afternoon...would love to see Gamal Gomaa again! But, alas, my carpoolers want to hit the road as soon as I get out of a 3:30pm workshop to start our trek back up north. I am usually one of those that like to cram as much in as possible and who cares about being dead on my feet at work Monday.

Nasila, looking at a flier I was emailed from Marta a while back, it says Sats hafla/show is 8pm-12am. Otherwise there really has not been much info at all on what the show is...Paying $30 was kind of hard to do without the info, but we did. When I heard Mila Mila will be playing at it, I thought that at least was worth a portion of the ticket price. I saw them at the Temple Bar last year when I traveled down to see a friends group open for them, and they were awesome!! Really upbeat and dancable music.

Jenna, you were fantastic. so much oooshy gooshy feeling and spot on musicality: very pure and clear. loved every second of it.

Carolyn! Thank you so much!! It is so great to hear that...I saw you in the audience (small one, huh?) and it was nice to have familiar face out there.


Not to come up with excuses, but it was a real unprepared performance for us as we had earlier lost a couple of the performers, and then Friday night while at the Arab Music Ensemble Concert we were performing at, I found out that my co-director was not going to make it w/ us! So the trio went to duo and I found myself editing music @ 2am that night. Cherie and I went over the changes while driving down the 3+ hours the next day. And then we got delayed on the road and pulled up to the Auditorium just in time to change & put on make-up and then hit the stage! What a whirlwind and I am so proud of Cherie for just going for it and keeping such a great attitude.
It made it to where we could instantly relax and enjoy the rest of the weekend for sure!

Will you be at the MECDA festival? We are coming down again and I am thinking about maybe coordinating a Wahib's Dinner Party again that Saturday night. I am always looking to party to live music and eat great ME food when I can!!!
