I am competing and performing, and planning on taking Amani's workshop. I can't wait, to see her in person will be a dream come true for me.

I wish I could go. I am dying to study with Amani, but alas will be on vacation with my husband on a trip that we booked back in December 2006. Hopefully, Amani will come back to the USA again.

planning on going
I'm planning on it but haven't booked anything yet - I'm not really sure about workshops b/c I don't do Lebanese style so Amani isn't appealing; Dina maybe - I'm thinking Amir Thaleb and Hadia might be interesting...I'm definitely not taking classes with teachers from So. Cal - see them all the time....Took Aida Nour's workshop last year...maybe that's a candidate.
I'm waiting to see what other Egyptian dancers are added.

I am also waiting more details sich as judges for compeitions, more price options, who's dancing in the shows, I saw that there are way too many things going on at the same time...gosh I get confused with 1 weekend workshop and shopping I might be just lost there...
But Catherine, thanks for posting this I also want to know if there are actually more people comming...and its the same week as the Ahlan Cairo nights and I will hate to miss Randa...

I am definately going, and will probably book everything at the beginning of June. I'm blowing out the rest of my 2007 workshop budget on this, so I'm hoping to take two workshops on Wed, two on Thurs, and Dina's for sure on Friday. No competition for moi, but I think I shall brave the open stage. I will be there on my own, so am hoping to hook up with lots of fellow bhuzzers.

If you are undecided and interested in Egyptian dancers, you might consider Lubna. I took workshops with her at AWS in 2004 and when she was in Dallas in 2005. She is a very good teacher, speaks english quite well, very personable in class. I enjoyed her classes a lot. and she is scheduled to teach Saidi which was one of the styles that I took with her and it was lots of fun.
I would definitely take Hadia. Hehe, I am a big fan of hers with many workshops taken along with the Level I of her teacher training. In fact, I helped to get her setup to teach a Level I in the Dallas area in June . . . well, I approached a studio owner about maybe doing it, blah, blah, and I think I will be having Hadia as a house guest for a few days.
Vivi, I think I am going for a double-whammy . . . LV for part of the week (Aida Nour 4ever!!!!) and back to Dallas for Ahlan Cairo Nights. I have to use some of those frequent flier miles somehow. I am still trying to work the numbers to see how I can do all this.

We moved the Monday open stage dancers to Tuesday, we are having a launch party Monday night with all the workshop teachers performing, with the exception or our Arabic stars coming in, they are performing in concert Friday and Saturday. The show tickets will go on line at the end of this week if all goes well. The rooms are booking up at the dancer rate, so you will want to book soon to guarantee the lower rate.
The workshop schedule is broken into 3 time slots, with various teachers to choose from in each time slot.
There are also 2 childens classes offered on Tuesday and Wednesday for any Mom's who have daughters starting in dance.
You can purchase packages, with either 3, 6, or 9 classes. You are given the option of what we call North American package (Basically, anyone who didn't fly in from the ME to teach) and International/North American package which includes our dancers from the ME.

That's another thing that confused me . . . booking the room! I guess we should just book directly (which is what I normally do anyway), but I swear I saw a comment somewhere that said once you register, you will be contacted about a room???? Did anyone else see that or am I just going crazy??? ;)

i stand corrected. they didn't tell my on the phone that they had decided to not have open stage on monday they just told me to pick tues. or weds. yes they will try to sell you packages when they call.
i think more up to date & clearer info might make it more probable that people will sign -up. honestly at this point i'm not putting one thin dime down till they get ALL the CORRECT info out. my feelings are shared by others.
to expect people to book air/room when nothing seems concrete including something as straight forward as "open stage" is asking for a leap of faith. if they can't be clear about open stage why should you think these workshops are happening. i think it is interesting to note some of the listed dancers don't have it on THEIR websites.
me, personally i can drive up , dance, go home & only spend $$ on gas but others can't. tina

Tina, I'm with you on this. This would represent a $2,000 committment on my part, and that's without shopping!
I'm just having such trouble trying to ensure that I get value for it :-(

On the website, it says that once you register for a workshop, you will be provided with a code that will get you the dancer rate. I don't know if that is sent to you via email if you register online, or if you have to call and get it. You can book the hotel room online on the IBDC "Hotels" page - there's a button that says "Book Now", and it takes you to Southpoint's reservations page (where you can enter the aforementioned code).
From what I've been seeing so far, I will get a better deal if I book my airfare and room together through an online travel company, than if I book my airfare separately and take the IBDC room rate. Plus, I'll probably get trip insurance that way, just in case anything does fall through.

The workshops have been set for a while, we are changing webmasters because we were not happy with the previous one, but the teachers and classes are set, so is the competition and open stage. We are working on the final production of the shows, and those tickets should go online at weeks end.
The workshops are booking, so is the open stage and competition. Laura the open stage is still open, but time slots will get limited over the next few weeks.
