For those that can't make it, you have a chance at the Eman from Lucy, and Basket of Goodies from Yasmin (details below), just email me privately (moragh_21030 at yahoo) with your bid, and a way to contact you, Bidding will end on Sunday 7/27 at 6:30 EST:

So, to whet your appetite for the silent auction, attached is a pic of an Eman Zaki, donated by Lucy. It is a lycra costume in wine and gold. An absolute show stopper, and super flattering for a tall, bodacious woman! At least $650 if you got this from Dahlal, the starting bid here is ONLY $350.

Sizing:

Cup size: D
Ribcage band length: 39"
Top of hip (unstretched): 30"
Booty (unstretched): 34"
Length of skirt (unstretched): 39"

Also, In a basket donated by Yasmin, there will be a Jean cover-up, a voucher for a private 2 hour lesson with her and some other small items will be in the basket as well as 6 CDs and 2 DVDs(much of which will be the CD's/DVD's named) bidding to start at $150.00. Keep in mind folks, Yasmin rarely gives private lessons, so along with the other goodies, you want to bid hard on this one.

Among music and video products (much will be in Yasmin's basket will be single copies of:

Ruta, is it too late to donate something for the auction? I have a pair of Akai 1/2 circs -- blue/silvery grey/teal -- would you like those for the event? I can ship them to anyone who bids and wins? PM me if you want! OR email me at naiyahayal at yahoo dot com ...... I can email you a picture ....

I forgot to ask, and it didn't dawn on me until this morning. Is it okay for me to wear jeans with a semi-dressy top, or would something more dressy be appropriate? I've never been to Cazbar before, nor have I ever been to a live dance performance. I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb.

Thanks,

Sylvia

you should be fine.....follow yer instincts on this....it's a nice place, but i guess casual-nice is a good description of dress that most patrons use.........

Wearing orthotics in my shoes leaves me a little fashion-challenged, because the shoe has to be lace-up. There's not much else out there besides tennies.

I'll be coming solo. Tried to get my hubby to come too, but he doesn't share my interests (in much of anything - but that's another story). I'll probably be the only table-for-one there. :(

See you later!

Re: Benefit in Baltimore for Dancer's family, July 27(AUCTION STUFF ADDED)

Woo hoo! What a wonderful event this was this evening!

The dancers were awesome, the food was great, and the Cazbar staff worked their fannies off to make it great success. And I got to meet some wonderful local Bhuzzers! I scored the Fitness Pharoah DVD in the silent auction, and lots of money was raised for the Bowman family. Hats off to Ruta, Shems and Damiena for pulling this all together. I hope Ruta will be piping in to provide an update on how much was raised to help Lucy's family.

I'm still floating...

It was really an amazing event with so many wonderful perfomances. Lucy's performance was just breathtaking and it was so nice to see so many of us in the community coming together for her family. The silent auction was a lot of fun, but it was really awesome to know that everyone's participation meant much more than just winning something nice.

P.S. Amartia!!! I won your veil!!!

A message from my parents

:)

Dear Friends of Lucy,

When we lived on the Shenandoah river, it was fun to stand on the bridge, plunk a stone into the water and watch how a mere pebble could cause a series of ripples spreading so far in each direction. I thought about that when Lucy called us last evening telling us of the generosity and friendship you expressed last evening.

Your generosity is something for which we cannot adequately express thanks. All we can do is pass it along as we are able. Know that when you are in need, you will find your generous spirit returning to you in ways that you cannot foresee. If there is anything we have learned over the past months, it is the goodness of people, and their desire to be of help to others.

It is a humbling experience to be on the receiving end of giving - I think we all feel more comfortable being on the other side. But there are lessons we all need to learn in life, and one is the value of friendship over things. We do not take lightly that you reached into your pocket of hard-earned money and shared it with us.

We will always be grateful.

Eldon will receive news of his latest PET scan tomorrow. We'll then know whether more chemo or radiation is in the future. He looks healthier than in years, and you would not know that he had been so gravely ill just a few months ago. His next step is to regain his physical strength and endurance. We are grateful to his doctor for the excellent treatment he has given and we hope that we have many more years ahead of us. Soon we hope to come to another of Lucy's performances. Please come up and introduce yourselves. We would love to meet and thank you individually.

Sincerely,
Barbara and Eldon Bowman

It was a wonderful event, with fabulous performances. It was my honor to be a part of it and knowing I gave Lucy a smile put an extra shimmy in my step!
