Anyone going to tatseena's fantasy festival in san leandro aug 2/3?
Anyone from Bhuz coming to Fantasy Festival (Tatseena) in San Leandro on Aug 2 & 3? John and I will be vending inside ...... bindis (thousands, many different kinds!) hair pieces and lots of his Austrian crystal jewelry for those of you who wanted to see some of his earrings and such -- come by and say hi! You can pick out a free bindi and we can chat -- would love to meet/re-meet with fellow Bhuzzers!!!! It would be fun to match up people with their posts!

Information is on line at "Belly Dance Fantasy Festival" .... great line-up, looks like mostly cabaret style .... (I sell bindis because if I sold cabaret stuff, you'd have to separate me from my wares with scissors .... tribal stuff is easier for me to part with but I do love bindis, because the variety is endless ..... something for everyone..... the hairpieces -- well, most of us use them .... my price range averages around $10 ....
Anyway, continuous dancing on stage inside, and there is also an outside stage..... live music only inside, I believe? Best to check on line for schedule of dancers and musicians.............there are workshops, too.
It's my first year there ...... really looking forward to it. It sounds like a mini Rakkasah .... Tatseena seems like a really sweet person....

I sense a thread coming up about the use of "fantasy" and "belly dance" in the same sentence ...... trust me, this is not a first-year fusion event .... I believe it sixth or seventh annual, something like that. Quite a few name dancers....... post the results of your search if possible, I'm curious about your thoughts .....

Naiya, I'm wondering if you were the vendor at the comic book/belly dance festival I met in Hayward last year. Were you selling a vintage blue/silver Bella or Abla? I think I met you then. I won't be going to the fantasy festival this year but I will be at the Hayward festival in Nov.
Oh, I guess not. I believe the lady I met had light brown hair.

Hi, Jasani! "Yes" to all of the above! Yay--see you in Hayward at Carnival of Stars then! The Bella sold -- I still have the blue Abla in case you are interested!
As far as the light brown hair ...... I've got so many different colors going on now (gotta cover up that skunk line) ...... I might have been wearing one of the hair pieces or wigs I was selling! I was next to Ma*Shuqa and we had a lot of fun playing around with them.....

Re: Anyone going to tatseena's fantasy festival in san leandro aug 2/3?
There's also a fantasy festival that happens every year around this time in Seattle. I don't see anything wrong with using the word "fantasy" for festivals that feature belly dance. What's wrong with it? Why the bad connotation? I guess some people associate the word with the act of navel gazing? I don't know and I don't care what goes on in their minds, I'm just glad that the people who host these festivals provide dancers (baby bellies to professionals) this type of venue to perform.

Yes, yes! That was you! Yes, you and Ma*Shuqa had some good stuff to sell, too bad I (purposely ) did not bring any money. No, that Abla would not fit me. See ya in Nov.

Re: Anyone going to tatseena's fantasy festival in san leandro aug 2/3?
Just got back from a weekend of fun at Tatseena's.. she really put on a great event this year, with a good mix of dancing. It was nice to see live music involved on both days! I was there both days working a vendor's table, and just mentally fried - so if there are any Bhuzzers I didn't manage to say hello to, take a virtual 'hi' instead
Standout pieces I recall were Monica (in a smashing green dress), Unmata, Tatseena's troupe, Fatima, Crystal Silmi and lots of other dancers who I am too event-glazed to remember. Plus there was cake. All in all, an excellent event.

Hello Lotus. It was great to see you at the festival. Your performance was great as well. As usual I just loved your costume. I didn't buy much this year since my budget is tight, tight, tight. But I did enjoy dancers and the live musicians.

Re: Anyone going to tatseena's fantasy festival in san leandro aug 2/3?
thanks for the compliment! I am happy because this year I did not fall down, unlike my previous stellar performance there. I really like Tatseena's event; it's just so welcoming and friendly there. I was happy to see everyone.
edited to add - someone really needs to post a picture of Monica's bombass dress. She really looked gorgeous in it --

Hey Zari--flattery will get you everywhere. :)
(BTW, this dress was purchased from Roxxanne about a week or two ago, and I wore it three times within a 24 hour period (two weddings and a festival, sounds like a movie!).

Re: Anyone going to tatseena's fantasy festival in san leandro aug 2/3?
Jasani, Naiya, Zari, thanks so much for your kind words. I appreciate them very much. Zari, I did not see you on the schedule. :( I love to watch you dance, and would have made a point to be there.
Others who were there and or danced up for sharing photos, or your vids? Would love to see them. I was only able to go on Sunday, and had a great time.
I'll share one more--I videotaped my pal Jasmine, and posted it on youtube (with her permission!).

Re: Anyone going to tatseena's fantasy festival in san leandro aug 2/3?
oh, I wasn't on the program. I inherited the Sunday slot that would have otherwise belonged to Michelle Joyce. Michelle was behind the camera all day. guess I was just in the right place at the right time.
I also really lucked out in the bargain bins of Gaylene and also Jaleena who was vending by the dressing room entrance. Got an orange trumpet skirt that is actually the perfect length. Plus another vendor sold me a shrieking dayglo acid green that I plan to unleash on unsuspecting wedding parties after revamping it to remove the icky red lotuses on the crotch area...it's a bit on the fug side right now, but I'll enjoy the challenge. Look for further updates on the costume surgery thread!
