Hi from Pittsburgh!

Hi Everyone!

Jen here...I dance under the name Janim. Sorry, sorry, that I didn't introduce myself sooner, but I never really made it past the swap meet page with all the beautiful costumes! (like a deer caught in the headlights...)

Anyways, i am an architect by day and a bellydancer by night. I started almost 5 years ago and am completely entranced. I love both the egyptian and turkish styles, and can not tear myself away from Radio Bastet. I have so much more to learn and am enjoying every minute of it!

Thanks for all the wonderful posts here at BHUZ. I learn so much from all of you!

Warmest wishes for the rest of your weekend!

Re: Hi from Pittsburgh!

Welcome to bhuz!!! I know what you mean about it being difficult to get past the swap meet page - I have that problem myself. I've also been dancing about five years - I started at a later age but I love it!!! I hope to be dancing forever!!! lol

Re: Hi from Pittsburgh!

Welcome! I'm not that far from you, I'm just in Cleveland.

I know what you mean about the Swap Meet... that's what sucked me in too! I'm just now starting to explore all the other parts of the forum.

I know, I know! I never realized how much information is here on this site! It is amazing...i think my day job may begin to suffer though unless i start restricting my forum perusing... LOL

And Cleveland is pretty close- i actually grew up in Youngstown...even closer ;)

Re: Hi from Pittsburgh!

yum yum yum. I so wish I could bring all the food with me. What I miss the most - church festivals. The only place where you can ask for halupki, haluski, or pirogies and they understand. And don't forget chipped ham - omg! Only place where Slovokian, Polish, and Italian food seem to work together.

ok - I must stop with the food!!!!!!

Correction: Where else do you have a male bellydancer tell you that you have to try pierogi pizza?

At most church festivals but also in restaurants here...or even bars! The Bloomfield Bridge Tavern (BBT) has it on their menu! They even serve it with a little polish flag sticking out of the top! ha ha ha! Wow...suddenly i am hungry...more coffee more coffee...

Oh how I miss Pittsburgh!! Primanti's, the "O". Eat some fries for me, will ya!!
Funny, I didn't know there were bellydancers in Pittsburgh before I moved here 14 years ago (oh my it's been that long?!!). Now there will be some bellydance sisters to look up when I go home to visit my family!!

Oh, and the BBT....the best pierogies ever!!!

Oh my gosh, the Bloomfield Bridge Tavern - I have very hazy memories of seeing bands there years ago.
