Hi Everyone

I live in Rochester, Kent, England. Unlike many of you I did not start dancing until I was 55. Over the past 5 years I have completed my JWAAD teacher training, and am very proud that at the age of 64 I am a shinning example of the older woman. I have studied in both Egypt and Turkey and as well as teaching I give performances, talks, and demonstrations to lots of different age groups.

a warm welcome to bhuz! I am so pleased to hear your story and also you give me trust that it is never too late to start a new career. I would like to know what you did before, have you had some kind of dance in your life and how did you find this dance?

Hi heinakuu

I did some tap and folk dancing in my junior school and rock and rolled in my teenage years with my friend but I did not have any formal dance training. Fortunately, I have good timing and love to feel the emotion in any music but I have had to work very hard to ensure that my technique is sharp. I will post a picture as soon as I can .

I second that.

Many of the dancers in my area seemed to have started well before my age, or are already younger with more experience. Sometimes I feel like I will never catch up, but I don't really have to, do I.

Were you are Fantasia? I came down for a Randa workshop and saw the show..that you who started it off? Whoever it was looked somewhat gorgeous in red.
And good to see another " golden oldie" join in Bhuzzing if you don't mind me saying. I started dancing at 51 and now have my bus pass! Free to dance!!

One of the mistakes I made was trying to be like the other younger students, but Jo Wise my master teacher in UK said stick with what you are good at. In my case songs where I keep the pace just right, and use my face to show emotion, and it works for me.

No, not this year, I'm saving my pennies for Cairo. Some of my students will be there though.
