Hi, y'all! *S* I just found this place, and I'm so very intrigued and happy. I've been a dancer for about 24 years, but not as a true (paid) professional ; more in the middle ages recreation group, Society for Creative Anachronisms, aka, the SCA. In some ways, I'm an old hand, and in others, I'm a babe in the woods.*chuckle* I've taught what I know about dancing to as many as wanted to learn, being of the mind that Middle Eastern dancing is the ultimate high, and that, no matter who it is, anyone can learn the basics.
Zaena is both my birth name and dancing name, and I hope to compete in a major competition one of these days! *S*

Welcome! I also began my belly dance journey via the SCA. I have some really good memories of my first teacher and all the fun SCA events. Outside of the SCA, however, few of the people I knew had any concept of belly dance at all. Who knew that this dance form would become so popular and even give birth to this amazing online community of dancers!
