Just found Bhuz! Dancing for 6-ish months and I'm hooked already! I have some Q's..

I just thought I'd introduce myself! I started taking bellydancing about 6 months ago in Ohio/Northern Kentucky and I now see how so many people are addicted! I can't decided what style I like best so far, but I hope to try them all at some point.

I was hoping that someone would be able to help me out with identifying the major differences in the styles of bellydance (i.e. ATS versus just Tribal, Lebanese vs. Turkish vs. Arabic vs. Roma etc.).

Also, I'm depserate to take as many workshops and seminars as possible (or that I can afford!) and would like some input on what is available near Ohio/Kentucky that is recommended and what retreats are note worthy. Really, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can be even more immersed in the bellydance craziness - I'd love to hear them!

Any input/feedback or otherwise would be greatly appreciated! So far, I just love the bellydance community!

Welcome, Stacey!

I think the best way to get a feel for the different styles is by watching dance. Do you have a fast enough connection to watch youtube clips online? If so, someone (was it Hannan Sultan?) has a wonderful page with links that lead to youtube explanations of each style.

Anyone have that link handy?

Here it is! It's not so much about styles, I guess, but it's a wonderful list of famous dancers from Egypt, Lebanon, etc with notations.
