WOW!!!! Have you seen this before?
Hello everyone!!!
I'm new to this online community so I just wanted to properly introduce myself. I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY but I currently reside in DC/MD. I'm really happy that I found this forum. Now I have someplace to go when all of my friends are sick of hearing my belly talk.
I just came across this amazing clip and I figured I'd share it with you all... ENJOY!!!

He is obviously a trained contortionist, probably has a circus performance background - looks more like a contortion/bellydance fusion thing to me.....

anyone know who he is? he can't be American. we don't start training 'em young enough to be able to do that.

I swear he is more flexible than a rubber band! Is he a snake in human disguise, snakes seem to be able to twist themselves in strange shapes. I am amazed what the human body can be trained to do at times.

From what I understand contortionists usually begin training at a young age, which means they are usually born into circus performing families. Cirque du Soleil always features amazing contortionists in their shows (there's a new one in town that I'm going to see in a few weeks... yippee!) Even with early training, it is still amazing, though, that any human body can be that flexible. I'd be interested to hear if anyone finds out the background of this Turkish male dancer (it says on YouTube that his is Turkish anyway...)
But yes, as amazing as his body movements are, I was really wishing he'd break out and dance already...

i wonder, can contortionists walk anymore once they get older? or are they permanently crippled? Is the human body supposed to be able to do these things?

Yeah, definitely more about the contortions than actual dancing. That was really interesting! Wouldn't we all just love maias like that??
On another note, I really like his costuming for a male dancer - showed off the moves well without being weird. But, wow, that guy likes his glitter!
