Jun/17/08 - hands on/hands off
Hi Ladies -
Not from ebay, and I apologize beforehand if I offend someone personally or the nice store this came from, but really, would anyone actually wear this?

Re: Jun/17/08 - hands on/hands off
I may find myself "out on a limb" on this one, but this is definitely a design that I just do *not* like. I'd never wear something (let alone a dance costume) that showed other people *where* to put their hands thank you kindly. Mind you that this is just my opinion on it.

It's a train wreck costume - you just have to stare

Re: Jun/17/08 - hands on/hands off
men don't need any additional guidance on where to put their hands. I keep staring, too. And shake my head and look away. And look again.

Re: Jun/17/08 - hands on/hands off
Hers was a lot better, though! To me, Dina's had the double-take factor because of the way the hands were part of the design and the colors repeated in the fabric. There was that beat in which you registered "Are those really...? Oooh, naughty!"*
This is just "Um, 'scuse me, but did you know you've got big fat red hands stuck to yer tatas?"
*OK, I'm really trying to avoid using the words "far more subtle" to describe a Dina costume because I can't even take myself seriously for thinking it, but I'm afraid that's the difference. Giggle at will.

There's a YouTube in one of the earlier threads about it:
Now You Too, Can Own "The Hands"
First page, I think.

Re: Jun/17/08 - hands on/hands off
Yeah, post #19. There are also links to similar looks on Barbra and Janet Jackson.
I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the hands costume actually looks better on a real body. It's still not my style in any way, but BellydanceStore.biz sends out email newsletters and a recent one showed one of her models wearing this costume. It looked much better than it does on the mannequin. It still has Ronald McDonald hands on it, however. Too bad they aren't removable. You could have interchangeable shapes! Starfish, bullseyes, various fruit - oh, the possibilities!

I also saw the first word in the description - "Dina by Sahar..." and first thing that came to mine was "...FIGURES..."

I really don't like it. Why didn't they just finish the whole ensable by putting hands on the butt cheeks too

Re: Jun/17/08 - hands on/hands off
I think it is so ugly : p
when I was at Bella's a few months ago she showed me the bra that she was making for someone, it was a special request, and guess what it was THE hands! Someone had sent her that costume picture as an inspiration....
so some people like it, I was surprised someone was willing to pay 1000$ for a costume like this.

Re: Jun/17/08 - hands on/hands off
I think it's funny as all heck! It's just for the shock factor, I'm sure...no one in their right minds would think this outfit was pretty. Take Cher for example - that woman has some fugly outfits, but she likes to make people gasp in disbelief. If I could do it, I totally would! I'd wear wild and tacky costumes just to make people wonder what I was going to do next! LOL!
