help has arrived!

hi!
for dancing i usually use ballroom shoes. the heels range from 2-3inches. it sounds really high, but it's not. it is very comfortable and the suede sole allows you to bend the shoe in half, literally. for colors. i have a few on the funky side, but if you want it to match most get a silver and a gold. they will tie in to most beading schemes. you can get them from dance supply stores. i get a lot of mine from ebay. there are a lot of ebay stores. such as appledance, moonlight ballroom and salsa9pm. all have some really hot shoes. i know some get their shoes from ballroom studios but they are usually much more expensive. for example, a pair of black ballroom shoes that i have retail for almost $100 at a studio, but were $45 at appledance(appleballroom..something like that). i have it saved on my ebay favorites.
hope this helps!

If you want really comfortable shoes with heels but not too high, I can recommend these, the website is
http://www.oldistanbul.com/tours-1/b...ncecostume.htm

I bought ten of these for our group from Istanbul, the service was all fine, and the shoes fit perfectly!

I have 1 pair of ballroom shoes that I wear with everything. They are gold and silver so they go with everything. They are so comfy. I think they have a 2.5" or 3" heel. If you're not used to dancing in heals, then all you need is to practice in them. I found it easier to dance in heals. You can also get a pair of nude ones so they're neutral. A friend of mine has a pair of light tan ones that she added sparkles to. I think Sumaya did the same thing recently. Ballroom shoes are definitely more expensive in a studio. Do you have a dance supply store near you? I found mine at a local dance store and they were around $65 or $70, I think. But I have wide feet and I wanted to try them on. There are lots of websites you can buy them from for a better price. Here's one: http://www.dance4less.com/ballroom_shoes.htm good selection and great prices. Although now I'm going to do a search on ebay for them. I want a 2nd pair. Thanks Amartia.

I have a pair of 1.5" shoes. I found the higher heel to be harder to shimmy in because of the way my weight was shifted. Then again, I didn't practice with them on - I just tried them on in the store.

I suggest going to a dance store and trying shoes on. They can usually order a different color if they don't have exactly what you need

I also use ballroom shoes. I like the "veyfine" line because they are reasonable and you can get something really sparkly to go with elaborate costumes in silver and gold!!

I like ballroom shoes as well (I only wear them for restaurant and "questionable floor quality" dancing). I have tan colour, gold and black, but the tan seems to get used 90% of the time.

I love tan for really neutral shoes to go w/everything, but the satin ones get dirty really quick. Better to go w/ tan leather. I have gold leather 2.5" sandals from DSOL(dance shoes online) and nude satin with the same heel from Very Fine(www.DanceShoesStore.com). I think Very Fine is a little better quality for around the same price.

If you're looking for really fantastic ballroom dance shoes, Celebrity Dance Shoes are the best I've ever worn. I refuse to perform in any other shoes! They are more expensive than most--about $100 to $150 for a custom pair, but they are worth the price. You will not be disappointed! If we'll pay $750 for a costume we put on our bodies, why not pay a little extra to take good care of our feet, too? :)

The insoles on Celebrity dance shoes have very cushy foam padding--it's like dancing on a cloud. The buckles that hold the straps on are actually snaps in disguise, but they just look just like buckles! That makes them as adjustable as you need them to be, since you can slide the buckle up and down the strap to adjust for a perfect fit. And since they have a snap instead of a buckle, you can get them on and off in a hurry.

Also, the entire inside of the shoe is lined in leather or suede, which makes them very comfortable to wear. No ragged surfaces or rubbing!

You can custom order any of their shoes in any of their fabrics (they have metallics and glitter and holographic stuff...lots of sparkle!), and for many of the styles you can choose what height and style of heel you want on it--anything from a flat to a 3" heel.

For closed-toed styles, order your regular dress shoe size. For open-toed styles, order a half size down from your regular dress shoe size, since it's desirable to have your toes hang just a tiny bit over the edge.

http://www.celebritydanceshoes.com

Their website is a little primitive, but you can request a paper catalog, which has very nice color pictures in it.

Forgive me if you already know this, but one thing to remember with any suede-soled ballroom dance shoe is to take care of the soles. Don't wear them outdoors or dance on wet surfaces, because that will ruin the suede.

As for what colors to get, I recommend getting two pairs: an all silver pair, and an all gold pair. That's all you really need to go with any costume you have.

Wow! Thanks for all your help, I think I am going to go shopping...I found a store nearby that can help me atleast with sizing ( I wear an 11 in street shoes) So I can get a pair that fits correctly! I am going to see what they have in stock and if I dont like what they have I may end up custom ordering a pair. Anyways...THANKS!!!

Has anyone tried these?
TNT DANCE DESIGNS Custom ballroom dance shoes*::*Ladies Signature Open Toe Ballroom Shoes*::*S9282 Gold & Silver Braid

Looks like they are the "Very Fine" brand. Any sizing suggestions for that brand?

Re: Shoes????

I recently bought a pair of these from Very Fine Shoes...went to the warehouse (CA) and tried them on. I love 'em, but it changes the way I dance a little (I'm used to ballet shoes, but Fahtiem just told me she actually took points off in a competition for a dancer just because she was wearing ballet shoes, which are "NOT performance shoes"!).

Very Fine Dancesport Shoes Company the manufacturer of dance shoes, ballroom dance shoes, dance sneakers, dancewears

They fit true-to-size for me (usually wear a 7 or a 7.5 due to width, and the size 7 in these fit perfect).

I posted a coupon for them in another thread...buy 1 pair get 1 pair free. It expires Dec 20th, so let me know if anyone's interested and I'll go find the link...

Re: Shoes????

I love the Capezio "cabaret" style and the "open toe footlight" style in metallic leather. They both have a nice solid square heel and are very stable. They are really pretty too with a cabaret costume in the gold or silver leather.

Re: Shoes????

i've danced in 2 1/2 and 3" heels, one dancer says they 'freed up my hips', which were never tight to begin with :p......ballroom shoes rock! i prefer nude color, cuz they go with just about everything, move well on any surface, and keep your tootsies clean and coal/glass free............i've done enuf glass and hot coal for a lifetime, not to mention the 'black footbottom'..................i also like the line......my studio is swingtime ballroom and you can get a decent pair of italian ballroom shoes there for $70, and just bringing in great chinese ones for slightly less, but their quality is excellent..........cant remember the name tho

Re: Shoes????

For those who have Very Fine shoes, how's the sizing? Also, are both the 2.5" and 3" heels flared at the bottom? Or only the 3"?

Thanks.
