Legend Costumes / Shimi
Last week I went to Shimi of Legend Costumes in Istanbul for the first time and I have to say: WOW!
http://www.legendcostumes.com/homepage/index.asp
If I hadn't already bought the white costumes I have been wanting for a long time at SIM, I would have been soooo tempted to spend my money there!
Very nice, professional costumes. I tried some of them on and they sparkle VERY much Besides fitting well.
Prices are around the same as SIM's which means between 400 and 600 Euros for a pro costume (of course, you can always pay more if there is more sparkle...).
I saw two custom ordered costumes that were nearly ready and all I can say is that they will make their new owners very happy.
Recommended!

I have bought and resold a costume from legend. Great service, lovely quality. They may still have my pikky up!

Yes, I think I saw you on the website...
My boyfriend took some pictures when I tried on the costumes, I might post them later.

Well...I emailed them for a price on a particular costume on Monday and have yet to receive a reply. I'm not thrilled with their customer service so far...

There's 2 for sale in swap meet. I'm selling a wine and silver passion fruit dress, and there's someone else selling one called "after eight". Both are gorgeous.

Sorry but I just had to laugh to this as is two days a long wait? This is a Turkish company so I would not expect them to read their e-mails regularly or answering to all requests even within a week or two (I would be surprised to get answer within that short time from any Middle Eastern vendors)

Also, Shimi is not in the shop/atelier every day. When I was there, she sent over a friend who spoke basic English because she was busy doing something else.
I saw the computer, she has it in the shop But of course she would first have to go there to read e-mails.
I know it's easy for me to say this, but it's always best to go to the costume designers in person... So you can see all they have, suggest changes or order the RIGHT color instead of hoping that they get it right.

I mailed them 2 times about prices and always got a reply within some days.
O.k., SIM is a bit faster (I always got a reply in about 24 hours!) but 2 or 3 days seems a normal answer time to me.

Wow...you're easily entertained. Glad that you had a nice chuckle.
The half dozen other Turkish vendors I've worked with in the last year have all replied the same or next day...they're doing business worldwide and understand the importance of being prompt. Ditto the Egytians and Indian, Pakastani companies...I don't work with vendors who don't reply promptly and I haven't had a problem with those who do...

Yes, I am easily entertained
I probably should have mentioned that I know this shop and some people close to the owners and that was the reason why I thought "long wait" to be amuzing as I know how busy they are. As Meissoun mentioned Legend Costumes is a small atelier with mostly just two people working there (so the size of the company is much smaller than most of the "big name" vendors) so they do not have a person specialized in customer service... maybe they should but I still would not judge customer service to be bad before maybe waiting a little to get answer (I myself am not happy if it takes longer than one week) and then if the costume is really that beautiful as in the pictures and arrives in decent time (they promise to finish costume within 3 weeks so that really sounds terrific) then I myself would decide whether it is a company to deal with or not.

I ordered two costumes from them nearly two months ago! Maybe those were the two you saw - green, and turquoise???
I think the costumes on the website are beautiful. They aren't arriving in time, but hopefully will soon and will be worth the wait. I've been communicating with Serife, and she is very sweet.
I'll keep you posted!

Oh wow, what a collection. Are these all for sale or just examples of what can be special ordered?

I've just had to wait 3 weeks for a US company to reply to me!
But they were full of appologies and clear on explanations:they are snowed under with work and emails so all is forgiven.
Give us some time in the "Old World" to get up to scratch on modern shopping
