I hate that! If I'm going to fall off the wagon and have dessert, it better be worth the calories!

Actually, this time of year I would opt for fresh cherries or berries and skip the pastries. Although I can't speak for my willpower if confronted with "beautiful little tarts"!! They sound toooo enticing!

Well, in the end there wasn't any fruit salad so I had a little spoonful of rhubarb fool. And when the cheese course came round I had a very small piece of cheese and no biscuits. In fact I went home a tiny bit hungry.

But the pound was indeed back on there this morning (maybe it was only a phantom, teasing kind of disappearing pound after all :( )

But today I'm totally bloated with an enormous tum sticking out and I'm performing this afternoon in front of an enormous crowd at our city's summer festival - I'm going to be doing two solos looking like I'm pregnant!!!

I sympathise, I have a (again! arghaaa!!!!) sinus infection and the combination of antibiotics is making me soooooo bloated, it's not even funny.

And I have to dance at the workshop show tomorrow (Leyla Jouvanna) looking like this!

At least I have a new bella to wear :-)

Sunshine,

Did you drink wine or any alcohol? I have noticed that if I drink wine, I am a little bloated the next day and up 1 or 2 pounds depending on how much I drink. By hydrating well the day after the drinking, I am down again the following day or two.

Don't lose hope. Our bodies have all these little funny triggers to take us up and down.

yippee

My plateau is fading into the sunset - lost another pound. This week, I lost 2 pounds after being stuck for 3 weeks. It's so nice! I have to keep going at this rate as long as possible. I feel even more motivated now. My new ticker says I've only got 12 pounds to go. That sounds so much better than 26!

Just wanted to check out my ticker thing. I know the numbers might look a little scary to some but remember I am 5'2" with a small frame.

I have managed to keep loosing even after scary loss of 2x30 min walking 5 days a week. But more slowly. But not gaining!

I sympathise with the bloat. Some days I swear a glass of water can make me bloat!

Regarding bloat -- if it's water retention (rather than gas) you can really reduce it by soaking in a bathtub with epsom salts. Has to be a strong solution (2 cups of salts is what I use) but you can weight 2-3 pounds less after soaking for 15 minutes.

I do this when I have a performance & I'm bloated. Works via osmosis -- water in the cells will go to the side of the cell wall where it's most 'needed' -- the side where the mineral salt concentration is higher. So a weak solution won't cut it, you have to be generous with the epsom salt!!!

Super congrats to the plateau-breakers. Plateaus are brutal.
On the weighing daily issue: I don't. If I do, I end up obsessing on every little pound. I only allow myself to weigh myself once or twice a week. Usually around Friday.

So, I'm down another pound. I've been a fairly consistent pound per week loser the last month. So, I've lost 10 since we started. Over all, 20 since April and 22 since January.

So are people noticing your weight loss? I can't believe I've lost 20 pounds in the last three months and NO ONE has noticed. Well, a friend of my husband's noticed.

I'm a little concerned about the next week and a half. I'm going to Maryland to be with my dad for his surgery and recovery. My dad's having brain surgery and I'm worried about my weight-LOL. That's actually a whole other set of worries (including being away from son and hubby and wondering what horrible thing I've left undone at my job that I'll get in trouble for when I return).

I'll have very limited access to bhuz so I wish you all good luck. I'm finding that creating new habits in conjunction with willpower has been what's held me. Man did I have a hankerin' the other day for fresh cake with buttercream frosting.

I want to throw out a "thank you" to Dani for helping to keep us motivated and this thread thriving.

Take care,

Beth

You're welcome Beth! It keeps me motivated too...

People have noticed on and off at work - but like your situation, when people see me on a daily basis, they get used to the incremental "shrinking" and don't see a big change.

I love when people notice, but mostly I love that my clothes are too big (that is the ones I bought when I porked out).

PS - don't let the stress hit you with over-eating. Know that you're going into a stressful situation and will probably want to snack as an emotional outlet. Just prepare for it. Take those 100-calorie packs, plenty of water, and fresh fruit to have with you.

If you can maintain or walk away from a super stressful environment with only gaining a pound or so - you'll be able to congratulate yourself for handling it superbly. Don't expect too much of yourself!!

I am 5'2" and at my scary weight of 135. I am just sooooooo not motivated right now.

I want to get back to my avatar weight of about 127-ish. 8lbs makes such a difference. It's so little but it really makes a difference in how I look and feel.

I just returned from 2 weeks in Egypt, and was afraid to step on the scale. I ate a LOT of food there. Admittedly, I also got a lot of exercise trudging around ancient temples and getting up for social dancing at the wedding I attended, but still...

It was a pleasant surprise to step on the scale and discover my weight was 1 pound less than it was when I left. Whew! Now that I'm home, it's time to resume the habits that allowed me to lose 10 pounds a couple of months ago. I definitely want to lose more.

I lost two pounds last week and now I'm up those two plus one more for a grand total of three pounds heavier than last week. BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Shoves face in a bowl of turtle tracks ice cream and watches the fat sit in.

yep

8-10 pounds is a full size on me and it makes all the difference in the world to the mood more than anything. Probably with teeny effort you could be down 3 and then that gets you in a comfortable zone of 5 pounds within goal. I think 5 pounds either side is the good range amount for maintenance.

Yes, thanks coach. I've done well today. Yesterday was my birthday so I didn't sweat the fun foods--a mojito after dinner and a big frozen yogurt creation in lieu of cake. The frozen yogurt was just as bad as cake, but at least I had it and it was done. With a cake, it would sit around all week, tempting me over and over!

I agree, with you. A week of conscientious eating and exercise will help a lot and maybe give me the nudge I need.

I really want to get my life on an even keel, but things aren't cooperating so I may just have to get my eating and exercise on an even keel first. Life will always have its changes and I can't keep letting that be the reason I don't exercise.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RACHEL!

PS, the best gift you could give yourself was making great choices and waking up the next day feeling proud of yourself for staying on track! I know you will be back in your healthy range soon.

The exercise thing is something I have to get motivated with as well - my teeth grinding issue will improve significantly if I start exercising more.
