LOL! I keep changing my goal. I'm not exactly sure where I want to wind up in the long run -- I think it would be unrealistic to try to weigh what I weighed when I was 30. So my goal is just a random, ever-shifting number. I have short term goals. And when I'm happy with my body, I'll know it!
Right now I'm just really happy to have lost the 15 -- that should put us at about the same spot since we weighed the same at our...er...peak, shouldn't it?

Okay, don't leave me behind, it's cold here in "I still have 10 pounds to lose" land. (besides I'd be really jealous.)
Ticker adjustment to reflect a bigger goal and where I started just pre-bhuz with Lauren. For bhuz competition purposes (though I don't know how many of us are really vying for a prize as opposed to just needing the support!) - I'll keep the old stats (26 pounds to lose not 28).

According to the new scale, I have lost 2 pounds. That being said, I still weigh 144 because the new scale weighs 2 pounds heavier. When we bought it, I weighed 144 on the old scale and 146 on the new one. Not sure which one is right, but at least the new scale shows a loss!!!

I am really enjoying the daily walks I've been taking. It really is just as much mental as it is physical. Now I'm dreading the cold weather, cuz I don't like walking in the icy cold...
Happy Birthday Mish!
Good going Lauren - 15 lbs. is amazing!
Yay for the additional 2 lbs. Damiena!
Everyone who's scale hasn't budged, don't give up! I feel so much better since dropping the extra weight - it's not just aesthetic, I feel physically better. Maybe not everyone feels the effects of extra pounds so strongly, but I do.

I forgot what the prize even is. I'm competing against my fat, and I'm winning that one, slowly but surely.
OK, I adjusted my ticker, too, to reflect a more long-term goal -- AND another pound down this morning (dropped some PMS bloat!). My official starting point for the Bhuz competition is tucked safely away in the group somewhere.

How's your MIL, Lilla?
Lilla,
How are things going? Are things less stressful? I hope your family is doing okay.

I'm down at my lowest weight I've been since I started this effort, so I've lost @ 7 lbs. and want to lose 6 more (yeah, I keep lowering the goal, but as I get closer, it feels easier to get there!)
These last few days could have been a disaster to my weight loss effort as my mother-in-law went to the hospital by ambulance on Monday. Monday night I had to rush to teach two classes back to back with no dinner.
I was sooo tempted to just start eating anything and everything, but since it was 9:30 pm, I only ate some watermelon. Last night was hard too, as we spent all evening in her hospital room and again, I had missed dinner. I had to eat something when I got home, but I was careful to limit it to just what I needed to quell the hunger. This morning I was down by .5 lb! Very encouraging, so I'll try to forgive myself the yogurt pretzels I ate in the afternoon...

Aww, thanks for asking! We think she's going to be okay, but they're keeping her in hospital until Sunday. Not the least stressful circumstances for preparing for a show this weekend (Glimpse of the Stars) but I've had to deal with worse...
This is really testing my tendency to eat comfort foods when I'm stressed out, and I'll admit I've given in more times the last few days than I have over the past couple of months, but I'm also keeping up on my walks and remaining conscious of my over all quantity of consumption. So once the stress lessens, should be a piece of cake! ( I mean, a nice piece of fruit..... )

I'm an emotional eater too. It's been very hard to not dive into the cookies and candy at work due to abnormal (or is it normal and I'm just sick of it?) stress and politics at work. Luckily, I've been able to avoid it with determination but it's been a challenge. I have not had a piece of chocolate since we started dieting back in May, was it? May or April. I don't actually miss it anymore.

Yes I mostly swore off chocolate too the last couple of months and I notice that now cheap chocolate kind of disgusts me. Even though I've always liked Hershey's Kisses, right now they taste like wax.
To compound the challenges of the past few days, we've been testing new items from our bakery to add to the menu, so they brought over a bunch of samples. The yogurt fruit parfait doesn't worry me so much, but we had to sample 7 varieties of panini, grilled with plenty of cheese and butter, of course! Got to get back on track.....

Ohhhh I've just got back from a break in Paris and I daren't weigh myself the scales are just sitting in the corner of the room looking daggers at me
and before I went I hadn't actually lost any weight even though I thought I was eating really sensibly. In fact to be honest I'd been hiding from this thread for a week before I went away
Now I've really got to up the ante and do it properly. Soooo, no carbs at all in the evening except when I'm teaching (I teach three or four hours on the trot three days a week) and cutting down on the portions at every meal.
I'm going to get rid of those 7 pounds if it kills me!!

It's okay!
I went out this past weekend and lived it up - gorgeous bottle of Bordeaux Blanc, oysters, pommes frites, greek salad and bread, and Tarte Tatin with ice cream for dessert.
Do I need to tell what happened? I'm up 2 pounds this week so far. I'm hoping by Friday it will all be back down to last week's weight. I think that's the way it works though - you play, you pay. But the moral is to keep the balance over time.
Truly - it's never ending. I'm deciding whether it was worth it - I think it was. We had so much fun and the food was so delicious! So, I give up a week of loss - big deal. No one is pressuring me but me. You're probably in the same boat - so we have to just accept and press on (the sky is not falling in because we had fun!).

Ah thank you Dani - those pats on the head made me feel so much better (truly!)
I was visiting my step daughter and her family and she's a brilliant cook. Not only that, she eats sooo much butter, cream, bread, cheese, croissants (you name it she eats it) yet she looks like a tiny Audrey Hepburn and never puts on an ounce of weight - I hate her, I hate her

It is definitely worth it to have some fun now and then with normal quantities of indulgent food. I think the time we get into trouble is if we consume above normal quantities, or get into a daily habit of it.
I wasn't about to deny myself the Sunday brunch at the Mission Inn this weekend, which was our *big vacation* for the summer, but I stopped when I was full, and mostly just admired the ridiculously abundant dessert display, only actually having half of a small piece of chocolate torte. Nothing I ate this weekend was particularly diet friendly, but as of this morning I have not gained, so hopefully that means I made up with lesser quantity for what I may have overdone in food richness, etc.
Got a couple of photos of myself with my very skinny dance company members, maybe I'll post as a "progress report".

And out of all three, I like your figure the best, Lilla. :)
Dani & Sunshine: I swear that the weeks of eating clean are only to make up for the weekends of debauchery.
Update: still no weight loss, despite the daily 50 minute hike in the woods, followed by the 30 minutes of weight training, and topped off with another 20 minute walk (on top of my daily dance practice, twice a week teaching schedule and my own bd classes). This is week 6. My clothes dont even fit differently, but I have noticed I'm more fit and toned, so....
This week Ive one upped it and am keeping my calories at 1800. Its crazy, according to the Plate, this is what I can eat if I want to loose 1.5 lbs a week. Today Ive eaten 1,300 so far, but my net with exercise is 546. According to MyPlate I can eat 1,297 more calories today. I'm not gonna, tho. They shouldn't even tell me that!
Yesterday I did so well at 1,499. Everything I normally ate, I cut the portion sizes in half, and then ate 200-300 calories ever coupla hours. I also drank the 8 glasses of water which was REALLY hard, but I was never hungry.

Lilla, you look *fantastic* I thought that was supposed to be an 'after' shot when I saw it!
Sumaya, that's me, too! I'm teaching 2-4 hours a day, PLUS practicing, PLUS working out at the gym. Acccording to Fitday, I'm burning, on average, 2600 calories or so. But if I eat much more than 1400-1600, I don't lose any weight at all. At those levels, I can lose about half a pound a week. Any less than that and I'm afraid I'll slow my metabolism (plus I just can't stick with it).
I just don't get it.
Though I've learned that making sure those calories come from veggies/lean meats (no simple carbs, breads, sugars or processed foods) seems to be a key. And NO eating at night is helping.

yay Lilla!
Lilla,
You look the same as when I first met you! I think last time I saw you in 3-dimensions you had maybe gained 5 pounds or so? (you still looked lovely)
5 isn't much at all but what a struggle it is to lose them!
You can hold your own just fine with your dance co.
