You ladies are inspiring me! I started being a Good Girl yesterday, using calorie-count.com (thanks Damiena!), and boosting my dancing and working out. But I made one mistake: did a very strenuous buns and quads workout yesterday, which came back to haunt me at our student party last night, when my Kenyan/Ugandan student ended the little dance "show & tell" I asked her to do by getting us all up to join her. Wow, that stuff is a workout! My quads were screaming!!

And now off to the scale....

I was stuck last week at this time with no weight loss but today - 1 more pound gone!! yipppee. I am fighting for every ounce lost! But, I have to say, the inches are coming off - waist is at 29 today for the first time in a dog's age and my hips are down to 40.5 - yay!

For the 4 or 5 days I've been feeling like my tummy was getting even bigger despite my efforts. Very discouraging. I've been "spayed" so I know its not time-of-the-month water gain. But then yesterday I had to work late and didn't have time to run home to change before a dance class so I stopped at Target and picked up a tee shirt and a pair of fold over hip hugging yoga pants in size L. When I got to class and changed, the pants were way loose. So tummy is same size and the rest is shrinking. Got on the scale this morning and 2 lbs gone!!! And here I thought I was gaining.

Yay Dani!!!! (I like your doggie jumping through the grass! )

I'm down by another 1.5 lbs. today, but I think it was water weight. No matter, still makes me happy!

Yay us!

THANK YOU!

Hey I realized that doggie might be doing something else in the grass...hmmmmm. I suppose I should look for a new thingie there for him to travel along. HAH. (Though, we're always fond of elimination when dieting - TMI but you know how that goes, or doesn't - major complaint with Jenny Craig by the way.)

this is better:

Oh wow I so could use the motivation! I was doing great over the past month and a half, using the GI diet, but over the last 3 days I had a comlete relapse and pigged out on fast food :( I had lost 7 pounds and now I am scared to get back on that scale!

Im in!!

For the good of the group....

I'm not thrilled about posting this but just so others can be reminded that it's not just them...

My weight has popped back up by the 1.5 that I was down yesterday! Is it most likely temporary? YES! I'm I feeling frustrated? YES! Here is the down side of that daily weighing thing...

So... as I've said, my strategy is to strengthen my resolve to eat properly today, take my "power walk", and remind myself over and over again that daily fluctuations are NORMAL!

*hands Lilla a yummy glass of ice water with lemon*

Yup. I went up by 2.5, then by another pound, then dropped again -- here I am three days later, a half-pound above where I was. *shrugs* It literally seems to be three steps forward, two steps back for me, and that's frustrating. But it'll still get me there in time.

The hard part is not giving up. Remember that if you are taking in fewer calories than you expend, there is no way you won't lose weight in the long run. It's impossible by every law of physics - especially the famous E=MC2. That thought sustains me sometimes...

People always talk about Yo-Yo dieting right? It's more like yo yo weightloss for me too....but, it really is two steps forward one back - keep reminding yourself that it's babysteps.

I am very happy to report that today I was able to wear jeans and a belt I haven't worn in eons. mostly the belt part. They aren't fitting as loosely as they should, but my other jeans are now just too big & look droopy butt.

So here is my this week's progress photo - YAY - slowly but steadily I'll be back to my old size 8 self - at least I'm a 10-ish now with the goal in sight (I hope before the Las Vegas dancing bonanza)!

It's because I've been flossing, using my stimudent and wearing my nightguard - I have a blinding new smile

ps. I still don't really know what to do with that stimudent...too weird.

You just gently run the stimudent along your gumline, kind of like you are tracing.

I have 'em too!

Well I'm down again now by 2 lbs. - .5 more than I was up two days ago. Could it be the scale gremlins are having some fun with me?

It feels a little odd posting these little bits of progress and setbacks on the internet, but then it's a great motivator too.

Great pic Dani! Except for the, you know, flashing head part...

I hate the scale Gremlins - they are being naughty with my scale too. of course, it doesn't help that I was up until 2 am at Wahibs and no doubt ate more than I should have of the chicken kebob & salad. I didn't eat any naughty stuff though so hopefully it's a really temporary gain.

Lilla, so maybe we're averaging .5-1 per week solid and the fluctuations are just part of the fun of accepting that. I seem to be settling in that range despite the fits and starts on the scale.

The scale gremlines are messing with me REALLY badly right now, too. I'm trying hard to ignore them & just focus on eating right every day. "If you do it, you WILL succeed..."

It's still disheartening.

Sometimes it is better to let the fit of your clothes speak to you rather than the numbers on the scale. Yesterday I finished hemming a sundress that I made two months ago and never completed. Tried it on and it was loose fitting. When sewed up the side seams I was concerned that it felt too tight. Scale hasn't moved much, but I guess a couple of pounds are coming off in the right places.

Lost another pound! That makes a total of 2 this week! Woohoo!! Only about a million to go!

I started using calorie-count.com (thanks again for the recommendation, Damiena!) on Monday and the food log is a HUGE motivator. I have a little toolbar on my browser with an "eat meter" that is green if I'm doing OK, yellow if I'm approaching my daily limit, and red if I exceeed my suggested calories. Oh, and they do a cute little weight graph that makes every pound lost look like a really big deal, which is also a motivator.

A troupe party today will probably put that little "eat meter" in the red -- but having built up good food karma this week, I should be OK, I hope. If not, I'll be back tomorrow, gnashing my teeth after my weigh-in!

It's soooo nice to have a thread on this....
